1.  I would love to get a Harley for Christmas ... even if it was only a Sportster.

2.  No fantasy team here ... only the bad dream that was this year's UD Spartans!

3.  My favorite NFL team is the 49ers (with the Lions running a close second).  Maybe I don't live with fantasy ... just unreality.

2.  How did your fantasy football team(s) do this season?  Pretty good...should have won it all, but didn't

Must have been the officiating.

I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

SOrry. Haven't been around much lately as I gear up for 2009 and put my plan together.
I hope to get a meat bundle for Christmas again. That gift never gets old
We got my daughter a hula hoop which she has asked for every day since about Halloween
She also informed me last night while we were watching the Boston Pops Christmas on IPTV that she wants to learn how to play the violin. There could definitely be worse things, but not many things worse than listening to a beginning violin player.
For the first time I think in my whole life, I didn't have a fantasy team this year, although if other years are any indication I would have got my ass kicked.
My Favorite NFL team is the Vikings. Not a good day to ask about that.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

1a. Do you guys have any gift ideas for a guy that I started seeing a month ago? He's cool, but I'm not ready to put down serious money on a gift for him just yet....any sure-thing gift ideas for me?

Get him a grooming kit and then tell him you want him to look nice for your wedding.  Then see how fast he runs away :P

Seriously, the gift card idea already put out there is the way to go.  A gift card for video games or movies could work.  Also, gift cards from sporting goods places like Sheels or Bass Pro shops are pretty cool.

Maybe stay away from coffee table books like Central Football: A history  If he is a Hawkeye fan I already approve of him and you won't have to bring him over for all of us on here to approve of!!!

Approval? Aw, how cute that you guys are pulling the big brother act....

Thanks for the suggestions (both on here and via PM) -- I'm done -- I picked it up over lunch!

That's weird.  Your wife told me the same thing.   :o

Sorry, had to.

dutchfan1,

I have two suggestions:

1) A framed copy of the picture taken at a 2005 Wartburg game. The photo featured DutchFan1, Coco, Walston Hoover and Warthog.  Tell him the three thugs in the picture are your God Fathers and if doesn't treat you right, he has to answer to us.

2) A membership to the Wartburg Knight Booster Club.  (It comes with a couple free passes to Wartburg athletic events.)

Sorry I'm to late to help. I was going to suggest one of those novelty shops off of I-80. One of the upper end ones with a light in the parking lot. How you like me now sis?

I was in college in the early 60's ... and back on campus as a faculty member in the late 60's.  Early, the drug of choice was alcohol.  Late it was -- well, you name it.

But more important ... early and late ... we were focused on anit-war and civil rights.  Four decade later, nothing has changed.

My apologies.  I always respect my elders - there just aren't many on the boards! :o :(

I was in college in the late 60s, then faculty from the early 70s to mid 00s.  Yes, alcohol has always been drug #1, and probably always will be (sometimes rivaled by weed).  What most 'young-uns' don't realize is that the drug part of the 60s was actually the 70s for most of the country (maybe 68-80?).

Things certainly HAD changed, but activism may be coming back. ;)

Warthog -- do you have a copy of that pic? If so, send it my way via email! I love that pic, but I can't find my copy!

He's not Iowa Conference affiliated...if pressed, he will pledge his love and devotion to this girl's favorite school. Go Dutch!  ;)

BTW:  Did anyone watch the Sunday night game?  I am not a fan of NYG or Carolina, but for an old olineman it was nice to see an NFL game that came down to running the football vs. throwing it all over hells half acre.

Does that mean you were a better run blocker than pass protector???

And too out of shape to keep running down the field after a 30 yard reception???

Just kidding ;D

Plus, I thought you had said you were D-line?  Something about being listed at 240 instead of 225 because BV didn't want the other team running all their plays towards the small guy on the line...but I am usually wrong...just ask my wife ;)

Nope that was not me.  I was an olineman.  I came to BV around 230 and bloomed to 275.  I also grew an inch and a half.  I guess I was the late bloomer.  All that weight and growing in a matter of 14 months could have contributed to my ankle blowing out and my leg breaking vertically.
