I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

I'm keeping an eye on The Show, he's been slow playing this thing so far.

You can stop worrying about me!  The Hawks came through for me and that's about it.  Missed all picks 27 and up so far (besides Iowa at 34)...

Let's hope the Dolphins do better on Sunday than my Bowl picks have!

If it wasn't clear to everybody already, I now own the title of Mr. Stupid.  I did the bowl pick-em backwards.  I put Iowa at #1 instead of #34  >:( >:( >:(

Oh well, I wasn't going to win the thing anyway!!!

I didn't read anything about confidence scoring, so I just left the games in the order they were in. It's only sheer dumb luck that I've done as well as I have.

Grand total of 3 posts in the last day and a half around here.  I expected things to slow down over the holidays, but this is the IIAC board and we're better than that!

Conversation topic to get things going a bit:  With the NFL playoffs starting today, what are your predictions?  Who makes the Super Bowl, and who wins?

Is there a pick-em for the NFL playoffs???

I will only predict that 1 team to make the Super Bowl will be playing this weekend and the other team begins play next weekend.  I just have no idea which teams they will be :P

Anybody else have 2009 football schedules besides Luther and Simpson???

Super Bowl Prediction = Baltimore vs. New York

I dont think anyone in the NFC can stop NYG's running game and I think Flacco has enough with his defense and running game to get through the AFC.

Winner to be picked later but I think I am leaning towards an upset.

As much as I hate to say this, I do see Minnesota making some noise.

There must be some great matches going on in the Wartburg wrestling pracrtice room.  The Knights keep winning, but it seems with a different lineup evrytime they take the mat.  Probably the National Duals at UNI next week will settle some of it.

Klop......the AFC runs through Pittsburgh.  The Steelers might not win it but it won't be the Ravens, or are they still called the Browns?  ;)  Whatever, they can't beat the Steelers.

Benny R is beat up and Art Model finally has an offesense.  I hope your thoughts are true, but I still see Baltimore getting it done.

I think they had a couple guys, including a returning national champ, that only have one semester of eligibility left and were sitting out until the end of the first semester.  Might be something to chalk up the variety of names to.

Pretty entertaining game going on between the Colts and the Chargers right now.  SD down a FG and inside the 20 with about a minute and a half left.  Much as I liked the guy when he kicked for the Hawks, I can't imagine many Charger fans are real confident in Nate Kaeding's leg in this situation.

They would only play in the AFC  Championship and that would be.......in Pittsburgh.  It just won't happen.  That is coming from born and raised die hard Steeler fan. ;)

BTW.....hope this is the week. ;)

It's odd that Kaeding's record really suffers in clutch situations -- that's not how I remember him from his days as a Hawkeye....

Chargers come away with it in the end -- Colts out again.

On an unrelated NFL note, I was a little surprised that Shanahan (sp) was forced out in Denver -- he was an institution there. I guess even he is not immune to the pressures and burdons of lackluster seasons....

I am now looking forward to see how Coach Z does at Dubuque in recruiting more local kids.  I was thinking that across the board at Dubuque we relied on kids from outside the area.  I took a look at the basketball, wrestling and baseball rosters at UD and found that really isn't true.

UD basketball has 7 Iowa kids, 6 from Illinois, 4 from Wisconsin, 2 from Louisiana...thank you Jon Davision, 1 from Virginia and 1 from Cali.

UD wrestling (with Central grad Jon McGovern coaching) has 17 kids from Illinois, 13 from Iowa, 2 from Wisconsin, 2 from Germany, 1 from TX, 1 from VA, 1 from Florida.

UD baseball has 10 from Illinois, 9 from Iowa, 4 from California, 2 from Wisconsin, 1 from Japan.

I think if those programs can be heavily populated with kids from the tri-state then I would think Zwiefel might be able to get some more kids from that area as well.  Though, I would love to still see kids coming in from Florida and California!!!

Sk is right 1 returning Champ w/ 1 semester left and another that had surgery before the season started and should be back soon. Also a local HS kid won Dick Walker and was 24-3 and still isn't varsity.
