Read in the paper this morning that Augsburg beat the Knights, 21-20 in the finals of the Duals. That would of been a great match to watch.

Saw the highlight video yesterday at the banquet. Another great job SK.

How did the banquet go and did it cost you an arm and a leg after the banquet.  ;D ;D

The banquet was good but long as usual. Luckily for me we ended up at Fazoli's, which was easier on the wallet. Do you know they don't bring breadsticks out to your table anymore? You have to go up and ask for them. That was half the reason I ever went there.

I wasn't there, but the match-by-match scoring was pretty back and forth.  Wartburg had a 17-15 lead going into the last two matches, but Auggie got a pin at 197 and Wartburg could only manage a decision at heavy.  That said, I would be surprised if the Knights don't bounce back big from this.  Besides that, Milboy has a way of using disappointments like this to push the guys.

We went to the one in ames about a month ago and the same there you now have to go up and ask for them. I guess they thing we need our excerise as much as we like their breadsticks.

Go Kohawks.
I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

Upper Iowa hired a new HC today.  Tom Shea from Dakota State, an NAIA school.  His team went 3-7 last fall.  He is in his early 50's.  He has a daughter that lives in West Union, IA.  His wife also died Dec. 30th.  I don't know anything else about his coaching history.

Is this the same Tom Shea that coached at Wm. Penn?

I also hear Northwestern (IA) is looking for a new coach.  Apparently there are those in their fanbase that think going 7-3 most years and making the playoffs about every other year aren't good enough and that it is time for a change.

I didn't do a lot of digging.  The only thing I saw in his bio was he had coached at Dakota St. (his alma mater) from the mid 80's to 1995 Before leaving to coach in Nebraska.  Returning to Dakota St. in 2007.  I think each of the last couple of years they were about 3-7 overall.  I suppose the bio could have confused Nebraska for Iowa???

It looks like Shea was recently at UIU, too.

Wait, why do I care? This is D3, not D2.....  ;)

I had just found that article as well.  Just thought I would throw a little "former IIAC" news out there for the slow days of January ;)

If you haven't yet, be sure to read Keith MacMillan's "Around the Nation Year in Review" on the D3Football homepage.  Some pretty interesting stuff in there, including the fact that the following picture of Coach Willis has been one of the most-viewed of the 2008 season:  http://www.d3football.com/images/2008/wartwillis-rjc.jpg

I have met coach Shea before when he was working at UIU. Nice guy. Seemed very knowledgeable. I'm not sure that's all its going to take to right that sinking ship in Fayette.
Having been there for a couple years though, I'm sure he knows what he's getting into.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

This is interesting - if you look at the Central schedule they play Wartburg 9/19 and Dubuques schedule shows they play Central that day?  What gives?
