Our former IIAC compadres at Upper Iowa finally have themselves an Athletic Director:  http://www.upperiowaathletics.com/genrel/033009aab.html

David Miller, originally from Manning, IA, will begin his duties on May 18.  He was Nebraska-Omaha's AD for the last two years, and his experience prior to that included stints at Truman State, Ohio U., and the Air Force Academy, where he earned his bachelor's.  The release also says he served in the USAF for 9 years.

This comes after recent news that Upper Iowa is planning on 60 million dollars in improvements to their Fayette campus.  They have some good things going on there.  While I am happy to see that, it's still Fayette :P

For $24M, they could purchase Fayette  ;)

U.S. Census Figures for Fayette, Iowa - Population 1,300
Total Housing Units = 438
Occupied Housing Units = 400
Owner Occupied Housing Units = 216
Median Value of Housing = $55,000
438 X $55K = $24,090,000

1,300? That's about 700 more than I would have expected.... Was the census done while school was in session?  ;D

dutchie you have to realize that the census counts everyone with a hole and heartbeat.  That being said most of the women and all the livestock in Fayette match this description thus leading to the 1,300.

Ypsi thanks for being the wet blanket that we have came to love and appreciate.

Sorry to not hold up my end of the deal lately here. I, too, am stinging from my wife beating me in our pool.
Question-
Besides SK, does anyone else here tweet?

Only after the special dinner at El Rodeo.
NKD: "We need a f**king touchdown, excuse my French"
FBD: "I didn't know touchdown was French."

I highly recommend following @d3hoops and @d3football for breaking Division III coverage. Often I'll start a story there since it takes about 60 seconds to release it there and a lot longer to build it for the front page or Notables.

For some reason twitter has disabled its search function at the moment so as soon as it comes back, I will be following Pat. Thanks

I thought this old guy was doing well for figuring out facebook.  Now I need to look into twitter...sigh...good ole technology.

I still need somebody to tell me how many days until kickoff for IIAC teams...my brain is fried.

Just got off the phone with Loras AD Brad Soderberg, who says that due to economic conditions, Loras will be putting their football program on hiatus after this season.  Says that when the economy turns back around, they may look into bringing the program back, but until then, this will be the final Loras football season.

APRIL FOOLS ??? ??? ???
Aaron Kampman on Coach Ed Thomas
I believe his greatest legacy comes not in how many football games he won or lost but in the fact that he was a committed follower of Jesus Christ.
