Let me set this straight...

Dallas Bush had the physical talent to be very successful in the IIAC.  Had he elected to stay at Cornell, I have no doubt he would have improved on his numbers from his first year as a starter.  He also seemed to be a nice kid, though I never met him personally.  I think his teammates were disappointed to see him leave.  I could see him being in a position for consideration for all-conference honors by the time he would have been a senior...maybe even as a junior.  We will never know now.

Football, hell any sport, is all about who you have now.  He ain't here, we gotta move on.  I personally would have like to seen him be back, but that makes no difference one way or the other.

Speaking to the QB position, last year the occupant did not have a good year.  The numbers speak for themselves.  We need more productivity and less turnovers.  There is no assurance that Dallas Bush would get any better in that department.  Coach Dillon didn't get a chance to recruit a QB his first year coming to the program late.  Bush was his first QB recruit, Eisenhauer and Connor are his next two.  They bring something a little different to the mix.  We look to those two to battle for the position along with whoever else Coach Dillon and Coach Dicus bring in.

One thing I have noticed in the IIAC.  It's better to have a passer who can run; than a runner who can pass.

I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

This should not be that big of an issue.

I just wanted to make sure we were clear that I wasn't bagging on a kid (which feel is off limits), I was commenting on our QB situation.   ;)

Don't know if this will change your numbers or not (I imagine it will), but Wartburg installed FieldTurf in 2001.

Quote from: Wartburg Athletic Department Website http://www.wartburg.edu/vtour/stadium.htmlOutdoor facilities include Hertel Field, a lighted baseball park; Lynes Field for softball; and eight outdoor tennis courts. Walston-Hoover Stadium opened in 2002, providing seating, concession, and restroom facilities for 4,000 spectators. The stadium's lighted FieldTurf playing field and all-weather track can be used for a variety of events. A nearby throwing venue for track and field and two competitive soccer fields are part of the outdoor athletic complex. In 2005, Walston-Hoover Stadium hosted the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

This is my source

That's technically correct, since the Stadium wasn't totally finished until '02 (took a little longer to get the track poured).  But Wartburg's first football game on FieldTurf was in the fall of 2001.  Walston Hoover and TheOne89.1 both played on that field, and that was the first weekend of my freshman year, so I think you can trust us.  And if you can't, then just ask AlfredENeumann, warthog, BB, or any number of other Wartburg supporters that were in attendance that night.  Or anyone from UW-Oshkosh, that evening's opponent.

Clarification acknowledged :)
Stats revised.

Also could be fairly restated as Teams lose on the road.

I love looking at stats like that.  In the end, you can still argue about just what they mean.  As Mark Twain said..."There are lies, damn lies, and statistics.

Good thing 2001 is included or some might think that Cornell has been VERY bad over the last 7 years.

Yep, Walston definitely opened in '01 since that was my first year being retired.  I wish I could have played a few games on it.

Warthog, I started laughing out loud when you mentioned "Bobcat" in your post a few days ago.

I'm going to post a non-football related story because I think it's quite amazing and feel extremely blessed, fortunate, & damn lucky that things are ok.  I also feel it's an important  reminder to parents with little ones to check your windows.

Last Wednesday night about 6:30, my 18 month old daughter fell 12' out my bedroom window and landed on our cement patio.  I wasn't home at the time.  My wife was putting clothes into the dresser and we had a window open to get some fresh air.

The window was open slightly  and was  literally 4-5' away from my wife.    Brooklyn saw a dog- got excited and pushed on the screen and out she went.  Wife could see her go out the corner of her eye.  When my wife looked out the window, she could see her moving slightly and crying.  She picked her up since she was kind of moving around, called 911 and the ambulance was at our house in 5 minutes.

I got the call from my wife and it went like this: "Ambulance is on it's way, Brooklyn fell out of our bedroom window" and i could hear her crying in the background.
We'd only been in this home for 10 days when this transpired and it took me a minute to realize that my bedroom was on the 2nd floor.  Luckily I was only 15 minutes from home(normal driving time) and made it home in about 10.

They took her to Children's Mercy and they immediately performend  a CT Scan on her head and took x-rays of her femur & hip.  Amazingly, they were all negative and there was no internal bleeding.
She landed just perfect on her side and only had a few small bumps on her head.  She didn't even really bruise too badly.  She does have a limp still but that's minor to what could have happened. (We are taking her in Thursday morning for a check-up)
We were even  home by 11:30 that night.  I can't count how many times the EMT's, cops, Dr, nurses, neighbors told us how lucky we were/are.   Apparently, any fall for a child that is 3x their height is considered a "major trauma fall"  Brooklyn's fall was 4x her height.

I had a TV Station at my home Friday night to do a story but declined.  Part of me wanted to share it as a reminder to all parents about what can happen but I decided against it. Wife & I didn't want to go on camera.

Kids are tough and made out of rubber I'm fairly certain.
It's amazing how many other crazy  stories people have shared with me about their children when they hear mine.

dd,

Did you get grilled for possible child abuse?  I'm curious because our younger son broke his leg 16 years ago (it was his older brother's first day taking the bus to kindergarten, and we lost track of him and neglected to close the gate on his brother's upper bunk - our reconstruction was that he climbed up, but fell trying to come down).  Very annoying at the time, but in retrospect, quite comforting that they were carefully checking on just WHY an 18-month-old had a broken leg! :-[

doolittledog

Wow dd, scary story.  Glad to hear everything is ok with your daughter.

My story is don't be afraid to go with a gut instinct and take children to the hospital if you suspect they need attention.  I have a sister that is a doctor and we had listened to her tell stories of over protective parents taking their kids to the emergency room when all they had was the sniffles.  We had that in the back of our minds when our oldest, at about 18 months, had a pretty bad cold.  She was wheezing and having some difficulty breathing, but at the same time she was also playing.  We thought she must not be THAT sick if she was still playing with her toys.  Finally we took her into the emergency room around midnight and she had pneumonia.  A couple of days later we had a nurse tell us that the doctor had been very worried for her.  We had no idea just how sick she had been.

Wow, DD -- that could have been really tragic for you guys. I'm glad everything turned out OK!

Incredible story and I am very glad to hear that everything is okay.  Your point about kids being made out of rubber, I firmly believe that.
