Before doing something, people need to stop and ask themselves "Is this a good idea?"  If they have to even think about it more than a second...it probably isn't a good idea.

What in the heck were those girls thinking???  I suppose the answer is...They are young girls between the ages of 18-22 and don't always take the time to think things through.  In the end, if Yordi got off with nothing more than some sensitivity training.  That should be what these girls get.  Nothing more.  Lesson learned.

I would think the reason this is getting less play than the Yordi incident is because Yordi was arrested for his stunt.  AND, Decorah is a bit more in the middle of nowhere than Waverly.

I'm sure it isn't getting quite the attention Yordi got since it is Rugby and not a main stream sport like Football.  Not saying Football is better than Rugby or deserves more coverage, but that's just the way the media works.  Also, since it's a club sport and not a IIAC sport.

This may me sound a bit on the lame side, but stories like this make me worried for the youth of today.  I recently attended a Fall Out Boy concert in the Twin Cities and I was shocked and amazed by the four bands before them that performed.  The things they said in between songs and the reactions from the mostly teenage girl crowd in attendance.  I turned to my friend who went with me (who has a 2 year old daughter and a boy on the way) and told him, more power to him to raise a child in times like these with terrible influences like this.

Walston Hoover

One of the more popular conservative radio voices in Des Moines has a daily mock PSA where he makes fun of everything from Mega churches to gay marriage to both political parties. The way he does them though rarely mentions any specific church or person. At the end of every one of these PSA's is the tag "If you have to ask, its about you"
What is wrong with doing what these girls did if its true?
I don't think its similar to Yordi's situation, he used a term that shouldn't have been yelled out.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

It's the difference between parody and insult.

While a parody may not be in good taste, it is protected.  I don't think anybody would confuse what Yordi did with a parody.

What is everything? Loras has the best setting. Wartburg has the best game day atmosphere and home field advantage. What other criteria are you going by? Besides Coe and Cornell, there's not a crappy stadium in the rest of the conference.

Cornell has the best natural grass field in the conference.  Way better than Wartburg's...    ;)

I actually thought UD had one of the best natural grass surfaces in the conference and was surprised when they changed to field turf.

Cornell, BV, and Luther...are these the natural turf holdouts in the IIAC?

As a young black male who went to Luther this subject really hits home for me. I know a few of the young ladies, and I do understand that they didn't have any malicious intent be hide there actions, but they do have to know that dressing in such ways was not be a good idea. First of all why would having a "gangster" party in general be a good thing? Why would you want to celebrate such? Second, by them dressing that way implies that only young black males are gangsters, which isn't the case because I'm not much of a gangster!!!  I know that there are  some young white kids who dress that way, but let's face it, "grillz", "phat chains", and baggy pants is something that came from the black community. Whether that's good or bad is for another convo, but that's what it is. All in all I really feel they , the rugby team, could have used better judgement and I hope they learned from the experience.

p.s. The Luther Rugby team are pretty hot!!!!!

p.s.s. What is the news with the yordi situation, I couldn't find anything about it.

Yes those are the last three.

And I have to disagree. Cornell DOES NOT have the best natural grass field in the conference. I guess you havn't spent a Saturday afternoon in September at Carlson Stadium in Decorah,IA!!!!

and I'm not being bias here either I spent a year at Cornell!! no comparison!!!

Also, though there isn't ever a good time to yell that out, he probably couldn't have picked a worse week in the year.

UD did have a pretty nice natural grass field although as many fields did towards the end of the season it was tore up by seasons end, Cornell is pretty decent, as well as BV but without a doubt I think that Luther has the best natural grass field. The stadium itself is really nice and with the addition of a new track, and some new visitor stands that stadium would be a little better. UD does it for me though. Their stadium is one of the best in the conference, and with the addition of a new coaching staff and maybe a .500 or above season those seats there will be put to use. To touch on another issue, I think that this years team will be pretty solid. After watching some spring practices the coaches there are doing great things. Hopefully either Hansen grows up or they bring in a solid QB. As far as defense goes, they have some great returners that now have experience under their belt to contribute alot more, along with a few seniors that can command a last ranked defense from a year ago.

Look forward to a great year, GO SPARTANS!

Welcome to the board jtplayer25.  And great to have another Spartan fan on here.

Does anyone have any spring ball reports?  I have a son that attends Cornell and wanted to see how everyone is shaping up for next season.  Also, are their any big commits to any schools in the conference?  Sorry for the hundred questions but just stumbled onto the board and I'm excited to get news.  Ram2, were you a coach last year?  Thanks.

jtplayer25

I wana ask you all your opinion on something if you do not mind....First to clear things up, UD had a pretty decent spring ball looks pretty good but again with the new staff its tooo early to say whether or not they will be a great, good, or horrible team...Hopefully good though  ;D...Now what I want to ask is why is Colton Hansen still the focus of this football team...I mean I know the QB is the face of the franchise, but based off of last year he is not living up to his standards and it makes me worried, because from what I saw he did not have a great spring ball....So why are people placing the star over Mr. Hansens head? But because I am a defensive guy, from what I saw I think that UD's defense under new coach Lance Taylor will be great...They look good, play fast, and are understanding what needs to be done to win...Watch out for LB Matt Brown, LB Jajuan Burton, DE Hightower, and Mutli-purpose D-lineman Karl Grant, who by way has played every position on the D-Line and did pretty well as an undersized Nosegaurd last year....But we will see  ;D

I think I agree with what you are saying but you have to take it to the next level.  Why is it main stream behavior to promote on cable television men of all races dressing like this and talking about their money, women, drugs, and gun.  Pull into any high school parking lot and I doubt you will hear much Led Zeppelin on the stereos of the kids.

I agree that the party might not have been in the best taste, but when I was in college there were the parties that celebrated pimps, hoes, white trash, hillbillies, stupidness, ect.  I mean look at the Chrysler commercials from a year ago.  They had the man who turned Chrysler around playing golf with Snoop Dawg.  This guy has killed people, and now he is as main stream as McDonald's.  For peeks sake, he has his own TV show.

I think we have to start at the top if we want better from the masses.

If I am not mistaken Colton Hansen was just a freshman last year and was thrust into the varsity role after two weeks of camp.  Understanding a more complex offense, understanding the speed of the game, and making more complex reads could all have attributed to his season last year.  Lets also not leave out that he was a freshman with no college experience before the first snap of the season.  I think he is a star in the making and could me poised to break out this year.

BTW:  If Vinny B was a good coach I am sure that he limited his offense and only gave Colton enough to be dangerous.  Throwing the whole ball of wax at him might have been information overload.  With a year under his belt I would assume Stanny Z would take the bar off the door and let him run wild.

Hey jtplayer25 ...

Welcome to the board.  I assume from your comments that you are another of the Spartan Faithful and I have added you to our IIAC Fan Base listing as such ... see below.  Thanks for your take on UD spring practice.

Speaking of the Fan Base, I don't remember hearing from Airborne Dutch for a while.  You out there Dutch?  Not in Afghanistan by any chance?  I hope not!

Klop ... I think Colton Hansen was a soph last year, which if I understand the process correctly, makes him a junior this year and puts him in the "better produce some results" column.

As always ... REMEMBER THE SPARTANS!IIAC FAN BASE

I thank you all for welcoming me into the message board and yes I am a Spartan Fan  ;D if you could not tell already. But let this be known colton Hansen was a Junior last year and will be a Senior this year. I have followed my Spartan football and have done my reasearch, Colton as a freshman was taking snaps over what was second string QB at the time Byron Abrham as a freshman, and continued into his sophmore year taking many snaps in varsity games if I might add both freshman and sophomore year into last year (his junior year) where he finally became the starter....So to say he has had little experience playing varsity ball, is untrue.
