Just when things are settling down from the gangsta dust up, and we are getting some new members, and all is going well, someone has to come along and write this kind of baloney,
"You left out Simpson...I think they are the team to watch.  If coach Glo can get another good recruiting class, and start getting some wins against Central...we might be seeing a changing of the guard in Central Iowa...or maybe not.  But I see good things ahead for Simpson."

Yeah and if Snoop Dawg starts singing opera we might hear it in high school parking lots.

Way to go, Double D -- you just opened that can of worms with the "You forgot Simpson" bit. Personally, I'd like to think it was an intentional slight -- which makes jt my new favorite poster!  ;D

Welcome to the board, jtplayer25 and desertgator.

Come on now guys, just a few years ago people were wondering if UD was still in the conference to and then they ripped off two back to back winning seasons....As much a fan I am of UD, Simpson had a pretty good team last year to compliment a good runningback. Dont worry Simpson as a Cubs fan I have heard this quote all too many times, "there is always next year", or could it be this year ? ;)

Purple Heys

JT- we're just having a bit of fun at the Storm's expense...

Simpson is every bit a team that deserves attention by opposing coaches.  Coach Glogo-alphabet did a great job his first year.  Simpson had a great year last year.

.....all very true. As a Central fan, we are just required to hate them. That right comes with the acceptance letter while we are still in HS.  ;D

Really, we're just having fun -- the claws don't really come out until September.

Does anyone know what happened to the Cornell plans to upgrade their stadium and put in turf this offseason?

Since they beat Central, in over-time no less, I would say they were freakish more than great.

Info I have is that the plans are there, but are on hold due to the current economic conditions.  They have a budget and are saving toward the right time to make the move.  It just doesn't make sense to tie up the money for the time being for what otherwise is a perfectly functional place to football.

Turf is the plan with landscaping and upgrading the Ash Park surroundings with fenceing and brickwork to create a classic atmosphere.  I heard they were planning MondoTurf which is a very high grade of artificial surface.  It's all timing and money.  I think I heard they might also put in lighting allowing them to accomodate the local Mt. Vernon HS games which would be an additional source of $$.

I think the location is great and requires only some subtle touches to look 1st class.

I know its just for fun  ;D, its kind of the same thing as with UD and Loras.

Food for thought, With UD and Loras playing a Night game this year, Do you guys feel that More conference games should be played at night maybe early in the season...and save the day games for later in the season. A lot of teams have lights, and the night games would probably bring a better and larger crowd...maybe even more out of town family as well.

Thanks for the update.  It is a beautiful area and it sounded like it would be a really amazing upgrade upon completion.  I really enjoy visiting.  The area and people are wonderful.  Nobody locking their homes or cars.  Heck, I feel like I have to lock my car when I get gas.  It's a nice break from our reality, my son feels the same way except for a crazy college age drunk on occassion. ha ha

I'm all for having night games in September.  After that, I think it's too cold to be playing games at night.  Then again, I was tough enough to handle night games while I was in high school.  So, maybe night games later in the year wouldn't be a bad idea.  It would give people time to watch Iowa or whoever else they follow and then also get to the game at their favorite IIAC school.

I heard the Cornell admin. has some west coast big money donors lined up for their stadium upgrade.  The only problem is these guys won't have any disposable income until AFTER their kids get through college  ;)

Is this subtle enough?
