The only problem is, I might have another one follow his brother and they may have to wait a while for any western funding!!!  I love the new recycled field.  I loved listening to the games this year with Casey Korn announcing for Cornell...talk about a homer!  (JK)  I was thankful for the broadcast and those boys did a good job!

I know its just for fun  ;D, its kind of the same thing as with UD and Loras.

Food for thought, With UD and Loras playing a Night game this year, Do you guys feel that More conference games should be played at night maybe early in the season...and save the day games for later in the season. A lot of teams have lights, and the night games would probably bring a better and larger crowd...maybe even more out of town family as well.

I'm all for having night games in September.  After that, I think it's too cold to be playing games at night.  Then again, I was tough enough to handle night games while I was in high school.  So, maybe night games later in the year wouldn't be a bad idea.  It would give people time to watch Iowa or whoever else they follow and then also get to the game at their favorite IIAC school.

I like your idea, except this year's UD-Loras game and Michigan@Iowa game are both at night.  I'm still debating which one to attend!

No contest!

There will be 80,000 people at the Iowa game. Wouldn't you rather be at a much more exclusive gathering in Dubuque?

Like Yogi said: "It's so crowded, nobody goes there anymore."
NKD: "We need a f**king touchdown, excuse my French"
FBD: "I didn't know touchdown was French."

OAS:

I just completed an online transaction for your Man of the Year campaign.  It was quick and painless.  I would encourage others to help make OAS Man of the Year!  It is a good thing you are doing.  As one who's family has been visited by cancer on several occasions, I want to thank you for your efforts.

Way back in my day Central used to play its first couple of home games under the lights.  Don't ask me why.  Maybe it was just to have something to do in Pella on a Saturday night.  The lights weren't very good back then.  There were lots of shadows.  I seem to recall the mosquitoes being pesky.  I wonder how many times the lights have even been on at Schipper Field?

Having played both day and night games at Luther............football is a DAY Game.  D3 does not raise enough $ to pay for the lights.

jtplayer25

I can agree with you about the money and how D3 cannot pay for the night games, but I think that night games would generate a bigger crowd which would bring in more money. and the other argument is that if they can have night soccer games, why not night football games.........if you put the lights in, why not use them for a sport that would generate a bigger output in fans. just food for thought. im not saying that you have to play every game at night, but for some teams like central and BV who have a long drive a night game might be more suitable travel wise.

Lights help November practice

I guess that brings up the question.  Which IIAC schools have lights?

I know Dubuque, Loras, Central and Wartburg have a lighted football field.  Anyone else?

I think for the most part I would prefer our traditional 1pm starts with some noon starts for the November games.  I like the idea of a night game for a schools home non-con game.  And then maybe have a conference wide rivalry week or something where every team plays that saturdays game under the lights.  If you have the lights you might as well use them occationally.  Other than we could go back to the day games.

Are you sure or is it because no one taught the Coe folks how to operate the ON/OFF switch?    :D

Actually I don't give the Coe fans on this board enough credit...they do know how to use computers.

Unless these are Coe fans from the future...?!?

Simpson has lights, JV uses them and Indianola H.S.  plays "Friday Night Lights"

Personally I prefer day games, easier to film and I can get home before midnight even from most away games.  Although Wisconsin Stout is going to be a stretch this year.
