Though more modest, I know that Cornell has a plan and is working it as well, but they don't have the benefit of a Sugar Daddy like the Spartans, so we're moving but not as dramatically.  I'll take what we can get and it's all good

If Cornell doesn't build something like this for their football team...

Then they really suck. I mean, if you can't build something as nice as a Texas high school football field then what's the point???

Any of you other dads of current players have similar experiences to relate?

PH - I fortunately don't have cross country commutes to deal with,  just Cross - Iowa but I love the opportunity D3 IIAC Football has given our son.   He was a class 4A 4 sport all conference athlete so came with some skills but coming out of high school at 6'1" and 160 pounds didn't make many D2 or D1AA schools inclined to throw scholarship money his way, possibly in baseball or track but his love is football.  One of his keys to deciding on Simpson was their having a full time strength and conditioning coordinator which has paid dividends for him.

Simpson's been a great fit for him and now at 185 lbs he has been able to become an impact player - great stuff and an experience he'll and we'll never forget.

Well, after a couple nights camping and canoeing with some Simpsonites, Donnenworth apparently has not given up his '03 MVP crown, but Wartburg retains the "Case Race" trophy.

There is a good chance Cornell will Video Webcast this season.

I know that Luther, Wartburg and Loras already does.  Who else?

I believe Central may have dabbled in setting up a couple video feeds last year as well.

Hehe...Longwood...hehe.

In all seriousness, there are a few D1 programs whose facilities are put to shame by some of the things constructed for Texas high school programs.  Them boys is just a whole different breed down there.

Central webcast all of its home games last year.  I also have to thank Luther and Coe for providing the video on those road games.  Sometimes the video webcast and the streaming radio play by play get out of sinc but considering just fifteen years ago all I got was the score Sunday morning in the Chicago Tribune, I'm not complaining.  I look forward to the next technological break through.  High def would be nice.  The pictures on the webcasts aren't always real clear.

Coe does all home games, regardless of sport - but football usually takes precidence when it is playing at the same time as, say, volleyball

We have had nothing but positive experiences from the AD, SID, and coaches at Cornell.  The head coach e-mailed me about a month ago to just let me know how he felt about my son as a football player and a person.   That's huge.  I live in Phoenix and other than a trip or two a year we are at the mercy of that communication.  We obviously talk to our son too, but communication has always been prompt and I think honest.  I'm really hoping they do webcast with video this year.  We really appreciated the audio from last year.  Those guys did a grat job.  We made sure we went to the booth to thank them when we attended the Coe game last year.  My younger son is heading up to their camp next week.  If we can get both boys there maybe we'll relocate to beautiful Mt Vernon for football seasons for a few years!

I hear the Kohawks have some decent players from College Community school district coming in this year.

I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

As a former player, I can relate with similar, current experiences as far as being accessible to coaches/SID.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

I'm GUESSING by "College Community" the players are from Cedar Rapids Prairie High School. The school is  not part of CR school district but College Community School District.  The district and the High school is very close to Kirkwood Community College - You can see it from I-380 south of CR airport. CRP did make 2008 4A playoffs.

I believe his greatest legacy comes not in how many football games he won or lost but in the fact that he was a committed follower of Jesus Christ.

Who has the most ties to IIAC schools?

Who has the most family members at 1 school and who has family members at the highest number of different schools???

d-l-d:

I know this isn't the ties you were refering to, but according to the IIAC web-site the following schools have tied for the IIAC football crown.

Central - 7 shared titles
Upper IA - 4 shared titles
Wartburg - 3 shared titles
Coe Coll. - 3 shared titles
B. Vista - 2 shared titles
Luther - 2 shared titles
Simpson - 2 shared titles
Wm Penn - 2 shared titles
Dubuque - 1 shared title
Parsons - 1 shared title

Interestingly, Central and Upper Iowa were co-champions on three occasions:
1939, 1946, 1964

As to the other type of ties; I didn't count how many of Mrs. Warthog's relatives have graduated from Wartburg, but Little Warthog was the 4th generation of Mrs. Warthog's immediate family to do so.  You can imagine the panic when, for a short time, it appeared he might become a Norse.  That changed when on a recruiting trip to Luther, Coach Pohl tried to visualize how Luther was going to rise to the top of the IIAC. He put a ping pong ball in a quart jar of soy beans and shook the jar until the ping pong ball went from the bottom of the jar to the top of the jar.  Likewise the Norse were going to shake up the IIAC.  After that fairly lame exhibition, Little Warthog figured Coach Willis' no non-sense approach to the game was better suited to his personality.

My family was a little less tied to one school.  I've had siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and my mother who have attend Dubuque, Upper Iowa (when it was in the IIAC), Luther, Coe (before it was in the IIAC), and Wartburg.
