Kohawk Remedy

Hey Alfredeneumann, not sure if its new or not but just realized your quote about Bob Sanders and it made me laugh...thanks

Wartburg Fan,
You going to the softball game tonight at Roland? I'll be beyond the outfield sitting with the loud parents.

As far as memorabilia, the kid has a few autographed things, but like Heys my best are the memories. The two best are the look on my son's face after he led his team down to score the winning touchdown over our arch-rivals with under :50 left and my daughter when she got a two out game winning base hit last year over a top 5 team. Those are the ones money can't buy.
NKD: "We need a f**king touchdown, excuse my French"
FBD: "I didn't know touchdown was French."

You can be a professional in one sport and retain amateur/NCAA status in another.

The NCAA rule is that no student athlete may appear in a advertisement for promotional reasons...whether they are paid or not.   The NCAA has issued sanctions for student athletes appearing in charity calendars.

This is derived from this NCAA rule:
"Compensation may not include any remuneration for the value or utility that the student-athlete may have for the employer because of the publicity, reputation, fame or personal following that he or she has obtained because of athletics ability."

It is presumed by the NCAA that any athlete automatically generates more publicity than a regular student.

Taking a look a the latest "Girls of the Big 10" Pictorial, I beg to differ.   8)

Get him the bat. Would look great sitting on an office wall.

On a side note, had my first $2.49 lunch of the summer yesterday and will probably repete today.
2 Jalapeno cheese dogs and a 32 oz diet cherry vanilla dew at Quick Trip for 2.49

Do your kids a favor and roll down the windows before you pick them up after work.
Although I do admire your frugality.
I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

I wonder if any of them have ever turned out to be volleyball, softball, etc., players? ;)

And, if so, could they successfully argue that the 'remuneration' had nothing whatsoever to do with being an athlete?

I laughed pretty hard at this one regarding rolling the windows down.  Make sure you put into a call to your cardiologist as well.

"Wartburg College achieved a ninth consecutive top-25 finish in the Learfield Sports Division III Directors' Cup competition.

Wartburg, with 669 points, ranked No. 16 on the final 2008-09 standings released today by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics. It's the highest rank of any Iowa public or private four-year college or university in any division."

And yes it's a new signature for me. I saw it somewhere, liked it and took it.

Can't believe Wartburg finished outside the Top 10, much less the Top 15.

How many sports does Wartburg offer compared to some of those eastern schools?  Add in Lacrosse, hockey, skiing, bowling, field hockey, water polo, squash and there you have a chance to really rack up the points in the Directors Cup.

Here are the sports Wartburg does NOT field teams
W. Field Hockey, W. Bowling, Fencing,  W. Gymnastics,  M. Gymnastics,  W. Ice Hockey, M.  Ice Hockey, Rifle,  Skiing,  W. Swimming M. Swimming, W. Lax From M. Lax, W. Rowing, W. Water Polo

Almost as many NOT having teams as sport the Knights do have.
