Not to be a stickler - the kid from colorado was a mogul/free style skier. Name is Jeremy Bloom. Didn't turn out all bad for him though, he got drafted later that year.

Didn't "turn out all bad"?  ??? ??? ???

I know he was injured and that didn't help his pro career, but if he would have been able to play another year @ CU he would have benefited.

"Bloom retired from skiing in 2006, and the Eagles drafted him in the fifth round that year, two months after he finished a disappointing sixth in the Turin Olympics. He spent the 2006 season on injured reserve because of a torn hamstring sustained in a spring mini-camp. The Eagles cut him Aug. 31 the following season, and the Steelers signed him in December 2007. They cut him just before the final preseason game last summer." - http://www.denverpost.com/ci_11596610
Aaron Kampman on Coach Ed Thomas
I believe his greatest legacy comes not in how many football games he won or lost but in the fact that he was a committed follower of Jesus Christ.

I was also meaning that he has been pretty successful outside of sports.

New favorite beer?

Skinny Dip - new beer from New Belgium (who brings us Fat Tire). Great beer for a hot, humid day

We went to the Hub City Brewery for their summer solstice celebration on Saturday.  They had a band playing, the local home brew club was there serving sample of their brews, good bbq food was served,  and we were able to take a tour of their brewery.  They just underwent a big expansion.  There were able to buy equipment from a kansas brewery that went out of business.  Their bottling production is going from 8 bottles per minute to 200 bottles per minute.  That was a lot of fun to see the place.

Hub City was on the menu at Warthog tailgates in 2008.  Can we expect to find this fine Iowa brew in the parking lot outside Chalmers Field in 2009?  The Hub City story is amazing.  I hope they do well and are able to expand their territory.

Yes sir, Hub City has quickly become a favorite brew at our house.  We plan to have it at our tailgates this year.  They have built a new building at the farm to house their brewery and it is quite large.  I was told they now have a distributor they are working with as well as two in-house sales people that divide Iowa between the two of them.  This distributor will be able to get their product into Missouri, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Illinois he thought.  Always nice to drink a local brew.  And the quality of their product makes it very desirable to do so.

Now I'm REALLY ready for some football!!!

Bringing Tailgate equipment to any IIAC game is rather difficult for me...   8)

But, you can count on me to come fully stocked with Sierra Nevada and plastic cups (to satisfy discretion rules).   ;)

BTW,

The Heys clan is coming en masse to the final 2009 Ram Home Game for Jr.'s Senior Day.  (11/7 v. Loras)

You IIAC Board regulars, give me shout and I will make sure there will be a cold one (or 3) waiting for you.  Even you Coe Fan.   ;)

ONE STIPULATION:

You'll have to root for the Rams that day.

After a few beers, it won't be that hard...    :D

A distributor out of the Quad-Cities put on a beer tasting event at our local Hy-Vee last weekend.  We were out of town, but I was told they were serving Hub City as one of the feature brews.  I thought that was odd since Hub City supplies seemed to be spotty at best at the store.  Your information about higher output capabilities helps to explain the plan.

Mrs. Warthog and I hosted a post-game party after a Muskie basketball game this year.  We served Hub City products.  Only the Wartburg football fans in the group seemed to know about it, but everyone else appeared to like one or more of the flavors available.  Several of our guest indicate they are now searching for it on store shelves.  Maybe it will now be easier to obtain on a regular basis.

P. Heys:  Even though Cornell is the closest IIAC college from our front door. I'm affraid I will be driving the extra miles that day to take in the Wartburg/Central clash in Waverly.  Then again if you started early in the morning we could stop in Mt. Vernon on the way to Wartburg.  Unfortunately Coe plays at Buena Vista that day so I couldn't barge in on KoHawk tailgate after leaving Cornell.

Holy ****!

Coach Ed Thomas was shot 5 times this morning- sometime between 8-8:30 in the weight room.

My mom is at Covenant Hospital in Waterloo getting some work done and apparently he was brought there and just airlifted to Iowa City just a few minutes ago.

what are people thinking?

my thoughts and prayers are with coach, Todd, Aaron & their mother.
