Thought for the day:

Iowa and Minnesota play for a pig, a statuette rendition of the actual brother of a porcine star of a Will Rogers movie. I would like to remind you that this is, on balance, a marvelous nation.

I wonder if Mr. Danza will work a mention of his alma mater into his new teaching gig...

And while not a football player at UD, he was a wrestler.  I wonder if DBQ1965 ever ministered to the young man???

Hey, hey, what do you say, Kohawk football reported today! (And they looked huge, too.)

I've heard from a few loyal posters that I've been missed around here. Well I'm back and ready for the 2009 season.

(I'm sure many more of you haven't missed me a bit, but I'm staying anyway.)

Go Coe!
Thanks Mayne Event and Kohawk Krazy both. I don't think Willie University meant any harm, but he was certainly off target on my participation. Truth be known, I haven't had time for d3football this off-season. But I'm recharged for 2009 and excited about the position battles I witnessed at today's opening practice.

I expect the Kohawks to again be a defensive reliant team with a studly trio of linebackers in Harrison, Thomas and Yeast. (Yeast, in particular, looks like a beast compared to last year.)

Rebuilding year for the O-line is key. Hammes is poised -- and built -- for a big year at running back.

I'm excited for the prospects of Kohawk football and ready for the games to begin.
4 IIAC football championships
8 NCAA football playoff appearances
13 straight wins over Cornell in the oldest football rivalry west of the Mississippi

for Doolittle...

it's my understanding that a former cornell player is going to be joining the UD fball team.  and seeing as how he was arguably the fastest guy on the team i suspect it gives UD yet another good returner/playmaker.

That said, as a freshman in '07, his impact was minimal...

...but I don't believe his impact was minimal.  He averaged a respectable 4.8 yds/carry in a limited role in 10 games on the offensive side of the ball.

Which translated to 9.0 yards per game from the line of scrimmage.  Like I said, minimal.  It remains to be seen if he'll have an impact at UD...where they seem to have a more than capable returner in Fleming.  Compare Freshman years stats...Sorry that the facts get in the way of your arguments...   :P

If you have an axe to grind, grind it on yourself for not talking him into coming back out for 2008 and staying for 2009.

It appears that Cornell's Track team stands to suffer more...so why couldn't YOU keep him at Cornell?

You can't leave me....all the plants will die.

Coe will actually go 4 strong at LB this season... Frank Weymiller, the brother of former All IIAC Ross Weymiller, is a transfer from IA St. this off season. It will be tough to keep him off the field.

Indeed I did.  And I also had him in my Fundamentals of Speech class.  In those days, he was known as Anthony Iadanza ... Tony for short.

Anybody else see the Cubs game the other night when the douchebag out in centerfield threw a beer at the Phillies centerfielder?  Turns out the beer-tosser is a former Loras soccer player.  A Loras soccer player that's also a douchebag?  I, for one, am shocked.  ::)

I guess special teams don't count then.  Either way, there is no ax to grind.  I don't know where you are getting that from.  I have nothing but good things to say about him.  Funny thing is I did help keep him at Cornell, he just gave up football in favor of track.  ;)  After I graduated and moved across the country, there is only so much one can do.  I talked to him about it a few times, and in the end there was not a good enough reason for him to stay.  Which I think reflects on the school at that point more than anything else.  Someone has to ask why about 55%, on average, of the kids return to the football team after their freshman year.  Apparently I'm the only one.
Terrell Owens was asked for one word to describe himself. He said "confident." When asked for another word he said "very."

Last year, the rumor was that he wanted to leave Cornell before the 08-09 school year and that he still ran track because his girlfriend was on the team.

All this leads back the to terrible return rate Cornell has.  Someones gotta start keeping these kids around...whether its coaches making promises they can't keep or the vast amounts of corn out there.  Someone's gotta sit back and figure out what's making these kids bail or you are not going to see any type of improvement on the field.

I don't think it's the football, its the academics.  In a world where multi-taskers thrive the one class at a time curriculum cannot be preparing students for todays world.
The one class at a time curriculum has gone the way of the VHS tape, the fax machine, and other things that were kinda cool in the eighties.
Ya, Cornell was kinda cool in the eighties, but not anymore.
I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

CooCoo,

Folks involved with Cornell would argue the opposite. With OCAAT, you are forced to learn new material and apply it in a short amount of time. This would be beneficial to employers since they know you're used to learning things quickly.

He never ran track that year.  The 07-08 year was his last.  They weren't dating when he decided to give up football and still run track at that time.
