I guess special teams don't count then.

This kind of reminds me of a lanky receiver we had in 2005 that decided not to come back out for the 2006.  That kid looked to have some promise, but statistically speaking, his stats were marginal at best.  He was not missed in 2006.  He left and I guess he had his reasons.  I can respect that; unless he were to come back and irresponsibly accuse his Alma Mater of "retention issues" irrespective of associated individual, personal, academic or social issues.

I guess we have different definitions of "irresponsible."  In my book irresponsible is taking cheap shots at someone less than half your age.  Since you brought it up, yes I did only play football two years at Cornell.  I simply did not just give it up and go to another school or quit because I was mad.  I left in the middle of a complete coaching overhaul.  The new coach and I discussed his new system extensively.  It deviated greatly from the system that we had begun to use (more of a spread option vs. a wing-t).  I decided that athletically it was not a good fit for me, as a wide out, and decided to concentrate my efforts on track.  That year I was an All-American and was one of the top hurdlers and decathletes in the country for the next couple years.  So I feel my situation is different than those who just bail because they are losing or don't play enough or just go to another school.  I also don't see how it's irresponsible of me since I've lived it, seen it, and played it.  It's a simple fact, and a problem.  You sir, having not been there, can do nothing more than talk about it.  Since my graduation, I have come back every year, and played in the annual golf fund raiser in support of the athletic program.  Mind you I go to grad school across the country now.  My dad and I pay a solid $100 a head along with well over 100 other individuals to play with the coaches, support the athletic department, and see where the athetic department is headed toward in the future.  In addition to now attending law school, I also coach track.  I make any effort I can to find kids who are good athletes and try to get their interest in Cornell...no matter what the sport.  I sir have done more for the athletic program than you could ever dream.  They have my full support.  I am not dumb, however, and am willing to admit/recognize it is far from perfect and there are issues that have to be addressed in order for Cornell to become an elite program.  Irresponsible?  No sir...that's you.
Terrell Owens was asked for one word to describe himself. He said "confident." When asked for another word he said "very."

Hot temps outside bring out hot tempers on here!!!

I can't wait to check on this board tomorrow morning and see what else has happened.  Now we are off to play a 1960's couple.  We are going off to friends house to drink cocktails while all our kids play together in the basement.  Though I won't be in a suit and Mrs. Doolittle won't be in a long dress and pearls like Ward and June Cleaver.

OK, OK...I admit it...it's a bit unfair to pick on you.  But let that be a lesson to you sonny boy.

Perhaps during the course of that Law Degree you are pursuing, you will learn to build an argument based on facts, illustrated with examples that support your hypothesis.

You asserted Cornell has an athlete retention program, your example choice was a poor one, your facts non-existent, or at least unsupported by your arguments.  To help illustrate to you how poor your selected example was, I used...evidently to good effectiveness...an example closer to home for you which had the intended effect and clarified my point.  Your meltdown was quite entertaining...but you need to stop because as you get older, you will only sound pathetic.

I know full well your story subsequent to your football career...you made a choice that was best for you.  I want you to know that I respect that.  But I think we can agree that there was no retention issue at the root of your departure...just as there was none at the basis of Wascenke's.  Clearly the decision was for the best for each of you; you achieved remarkable success as a D3 All-American Decathlete.  Allow me to congratulate you once again.  You represent one of those pockets of success I made mention of.

Now you're gonna give me a law lecture? It never ends with you does it?  I would not call that a meltdown, as much as putting you in your place.  I always thought your son was alright, but its safe to say you are a prick.  I'm glad my story is so well known.  Guess I got a pseudo-celebrity status at Cornell. Yippee.

It'd be funnier if you were the one wearing the dress...   :D

Thanks to SpeedKills84 for playing our game, next week I'll take on the Coe Nation in trying to explain to them how Crunchberries can be used to prevent A-R Inversion Syndrome and no matter how many times they beat the Rams...they're still from Coe!   :D

G'Night everybody!!!

I suppose with all the Cornell posters I should drop a few lines so I don't get called out. It has been awhile but unfortunately with the job I had I pretty much had no time to post and with the new job my posts will be limited to mostly the pickems  ;)

Just skimming over the mess of the argument between heys and speedkills I see both sides. I will say I wish speedkills would have stayed out for fball but don't blame him for focusing on track and working his tail off to become an all-american...if you would have just been an average runner I would have questioned that decision but it turned out to be a good one for you. You certainly would have added some depth and helped out in football as I thought you really came on toward the end of your sophmore year.

Heys I agree with you that I don't think there is a huge retention issue at Cornell I just think it is more evident when you only start out with bringing 30 guys in and have around 60 total. I don't think the retention problem is any worse than any other school. With the smaller numbers that issue is more evident as I think warthog or walston pointed out(sorry too lazy to look back :) ) Heys I look forward to seeing you at a few games this year. Saw JR. the other day and I can't believe he came in at a slender 195??!

Thought for the day:

There are two kinds of people in the world, Notre Dame lovers and Notre Dame haters.  And, quite frankly, they're both a pain in the ass.
