Which direction from Fayette?

D3: Wartburg....  and Simpson I guess since my little bro is playing this year
D2: GVSU
D1: Hawkeyes
Pro: I hate pro football

Beer: I have come to appreciate all beer since moving to Colorado.... I would have to go with a local CO brew and say either 808 (which is brewed 6 blocks from where I live) or Easy Street (brewed in Ft. Collins).

As far as scrimmages go...  Simpson is scrimmaging Graceland next weekend....

As far as the Farve thing....  eh... who cares...  anyone willing to guess how many picks he throws this year???

Thought for the day:

Football kickers are like taxi cabs. You can always go out and get another one.

I do not know if anyone has had a chance to read the BV season preview but it was pretty good.  5WOL already did his, which was also very good, but I am hopeful about this years squad.

Heys....Whats the stats on the boy this year.  Height and weight wise?  I assume he has become a monster and I wish him the best of luck this season.

27, but in less attempts, because AD is getting the rock 385+ times this year

D3- Coe
D2- ?
D1- Hawks
Pro- Boys

Beer - Hm, probably Coors Light, Blue Moon (or any wheat beer), but nothing is wrong with good ol' fashion Busch Light... although, I too, would rather have a little captain in me (or a lot) - try it with 7up.. tastes like cream soda.

D3- Wartburg and Augsburg since my brother coaches there. Week 2 is going to be tough. I'll probably stay a little quiet. Really want to see little brother do well, but too much history with the Knights. Whoever is playing Coe.
D2- Winona State-brother coached there for a little while. GVSU, and I coach with a former Bearcat AA from NWMSU. Really don't like UIU.
FCS- UNI and whoever is playing Drake. I get sick of all the play they get and the thought by the media down here that they are some sort of big time program. I also coach with a couple Drake alums and, like most, they could care less about their football team.
BCS- One of the worst teams of all time. The Cyclones. (Dad's a vet and I was born when he was in vet school. I was doomed)
Pro-Vikings and Broncos

I'd like to add another category of what HS teams everyone pulls for. I know we've done this before but I'm a curious guy.
After working tons of camps and meeting and getting to know many coaches through coaching myself, my list has definitely expanded.

My Maroons and My Falcons. Waverly, Grundy Center, Dallas Center Grimes, Williamsburg.
Even though Valley and Ankeny are our rivals. HUGE rivals, in fact Our rivalry with Valley was ranked one of the top in the Nation, I love to see them both do well because I'm a big fan of tradition and knowing that it means a lot more than just beating your rival to win those games.
Plus I live in Ankeny and have got to know several players and coaches.
If Iowa Falls and Gladbrook Reinbeck never won another HS game it wouldnt hurt my feelings.
I still cheer for whoever Dike is playing against as well even though the guy that signs my coaching paycheck bleeds blue and silver. Some scars don't ever go away.

I pull for the Madrid Tigers although they probably have erased any evidence of my playing days there.

The Roland-Story Norsemen. Lots of tradidion. Still watch footballkid's game videos in the off season when I need a football fix.

Anyone who plays Gilbert or PCM though probably more for the parent's and fan's attitudes than the players.
NKD: "We need a f**king touchdown, excuse my French"
FBD: "I didn't know touchdown was French."

High School teams for me...

Union of La Porte City - coached by former BVU coach Joe Hadachek.  It brings a lot of amusement to friends of mine around my age that remember how bad we were as a 2A school back in the day to now see our school having success as a 3A school.

Webster Groves, MO - The school my sisters graduated from before my family moved up here before the start of my freshman year of high school.  Adrian Clayborn of the Hawkeyes is from there.  They play Kirkwood every Thanksgiving day dating back to 1905 I believe.  Which often comes during playoff runs for both schools.  That is a very intense game.

I don't typically like to root against teams...I am a Hawkeye fan first, but I also like to see ISU and UNI do well when not playing the Hawks.  BUT, I never was a big fan of Grundy Center while I was in high school.  Now their coach reportedly told his players that if any of them went out for soccer in the spring he would not let them be starters for his football team in the fall.  That doesn't play well with me.

2 weeks and 2 days until the IIAC kicks off their season...yahoo!!!

NewKnightDad

I graduated from North in 1984, right before the Ron Wymer era.  :-\

High Schools I cheer for are North Fayette and Benton Community.
