That's real Cubans that don't live in Cuba anymore...because if you called it a Mentirita in Cuba, you'd get put away.  :o

Any moviegoer in the Cedar Rapids area should get a chuckle when reading #30's last name.

I know this is an IIAC board but I'm surprised there's zero chatter about the loss of Jewel Hampton. The RB position should be interesting for the Hawkeyes.

I love how UD's roster has become like the friggin' Pentagon Papers around here.  ;D

Looks like Loras has re-done their athletic website, and they have their roster up now as well:  http://www.duhawks.com/roster/7/5.php.

Of the incoming freshmen the Duhawks bring in from Iowa (not near as many as come from Illannoy), it looks like the majority are from either Waukon, Western Dubuque, or Wahlert.  They did recruit other schools besides those three, right?

Probably because the roster is a Microsoft Word document.  Red line means Word thinks something is spelled wrong, green for bad grammar.

Maybe the could have...but apparently they didn't need to because their season preview says they are winning the IIAC with what theyy've got.   ;)

I feel like that kid on Christmas Eve who tries to go to sleep at 2 in the afternoon to try to make Christmas Day come sooner.

I can't wait to get on the plane to Iowa.   :)

Wait a minute!  I'm in San Diego now...did I just write that?     :o

Looking at the Dubuque roster that Frank found.  I like what I see from the returnees.  Some good players there.  It also appears there is still a bit of a pipeline to Florida and Michigan as there are some freshmen from those states.

31 from Illinois...up from about 20-25 last year
19 from Florida...down from about 45 last year
16 from Wisconsin...up from about 6-7 last year
13 from Iowa...I think that is actually down 3 or 4 from last year :o
Then a scattering from 1 to 3 kids from MS, MN, GA, ID, CA, HI :o , TX, OH, England :o , Puerto Rico :o

It might be a long year for UD...it might be a 5-5 year for UD...overall I am optimistic for our future.  Of course, this time of year we are ALL optimistic for our favorite teams ;D

Thought for the day:

Excuse me, but it's always been an emotional game. Did Sam Huff do a dumb dance when he knocked down Jim Brown? Did Walter Payton need to celebrate all those touchdowns? But now, with players having a highlight mentality, it's out of control.

the team that ud played  an 8/22 was a jr collage out of rockford

Bringing in a bunch of junior college players to get a first hand look at what Dubuque has to offer as far as a campus and facilities...

What Iowa lacks we make up for with our lack of low property taxes ;D

Proprerty taxes are much lower in California.  I had a $530,000 house in California and pay a little more in property taxes in Iowa for a $285,000 house.

Sadly I'm not getting duhawks.com to fire up tonight, but I'm excited to see the (god I hope) upgrade. I've always been disappointed in the lack of Iowans on Loras' roster. They have a nice pipeline from those three schools, but how about a few guys not from along the river? I know they love those Illinois boys, too, but we seem to get some of our best play out of the Iowans we do have (recently: McGrew, Gesing, McMahon, McCarren, Reed Peterson, etc). Why would they shy away from places like Benton Community, Columbus, or Dowling?

Nice TH article on the Duhawks, maybe a little too optimistic, but why not, right?

I may be mistaken but I believe the pictures of UD's scrimmage on their website violate NCAA rules. I don't think you can publicice any contact with another institution that is not a actual game. Maybe they can since it was against a JC.

I have seen a ton of publication of scrimmages this year. One school even broadcast theirs, and their conference, which is one of the conferences that fancies itself as being more restrictive than others, actually sent out a tweet publicizing that scrimmage.
