Aaron Kampman on Coach Ed Thomas
I believe his greatest legacy comes not in how many football games he won or lost but in the fact that he was a committed follower of Jesus Christ.

Drake football coach suspends total of 14 players
But because of their character and with the confusion, they self-reported to me that some of the guys had gone out and had a beer or two."

I bet (THEY) are pretty popular with their teammates about now.

ehh, whats a beer or two...I'm sure it brought the teammates closer together relaxing and having a cold one.  It's not like they threw a big party during camp.... :o ::)

I meant the (THEY) that did the reporting to the coach.

Sorry, wasn't meaning to base my comment off yours - it was more to the point of it's not that big of a deal.  Spending 2 hard weeks in films, meetings, and practice takes it's toll as everyone else on campus is partying their first week.  Maybe they deservered to relax and have a couple cold ones.

Dutch Radio

I'll let you figure out what team :)

Also - I'm going to be tweeting throughout Central games this year with scoring updates, etc.  VoiceoftheDutch is my handle.

It would be awesome if we had someone from each team that could reliably tweet during the games so that we could all keep up to date on what's going on around the conference.  Anyone else able to do so?

First things first, my deepest sympathy for your loss.  I experienced something similiar last Spring, also in the Twin Cities area, and know how hard something like that can be.

Secondly, does a UW-W interloper like myself, (who now backs UD as well,) qualify as a member of the IIAC fan base cuz I plan to be checking in regularly on the Spartan's progress?   ;)  ;D 8)

Since I am fairly certain my Muskies will take a serious whipping at Bettendorf tomorrow night, ( :-[ ) I think Mrs. Warthog and I will drive over to West Liberty and see how BB's Mepo Bulldogs do against the Comets. (  :D )

I'll take the Bulldogs and give 6 1/2 points.

What other high school games will IIAC fans be watching on Friday night?

... but without a doubt I think that Luther has the best natural grass field. The stadium itself is really nice and with the addition of a new track, and some new visitor stands that stadium would be a little better ...

Track surface removed today

Luther's Track Surfacing is Underway

Is the track still going to be Smurf blue?

'Twas nearly red!

The Texas based installer botched the order and delivered a semi-load of red polyeurethane and granules two weeks ago.  The AD said that he could have swung a helluva deal but elected to stick with "Most-Conference-Titles-in-the-IIAC Blue."

I certainly hope Wartburg was playing their 3rd and 4th team defensive units and Platteville their starters? Any Wartburg faithful at the scrimmage that can comment on this?

You may notice I've been quiet concerning the 2009 edition of the Knights.  I'm not quite as confident as the polls have been.  I wouldn't be surprised to see the Knights limp into the IIAC games with a 0-2 record.  They have lost much of the team that took them deep into the 2008 playoffs.  I hope not, but I'm a little affraid for early 2009.  It may take some time to get the young stallions in the harness.

I see Mepo has a pretty high spot in the latest AP rankings.  You'll have to let us know if they are worthy.

For my part, I'll be up in Guttenberg for the Clayton Ridge vs. MFL-Mar-Mac game.  Will be CR's first home game since '07, and the first on their new, $1.7 million dollar facility which is being named for a 2003 alum and former football player who was killed in action in Iraq in Jauary of 2007.  Big pregame ceremony is planned, including delivery of the actual flag that flew over the soldier's base by parachute.

Speaking of our fighting men and women, word on the street is that the broadcast of Walston Hoover's Dowling vs. Valley game is going to be caried on Armed Forece Radio.
