I'm a bit behind on the rivalry talk but when I went to Central (02-06), Simpson and Wartburg were definitely the two games that I felt the most heat during. Simpson just because of the close proximity and the history and Wartburg just because it was the other big kid on the block. Good luck to Central today. AZ Dutch, thanx for the email a week ago. Your son has chosen a fine school that makes good football players, but even better students and men.

I think you need the list of favorite hangover cures too.

Here's mine:  (As posted previously)

Taco Bell : The "Value Menu"
1 Crunchy Taco
1 Soft Taco
1 Tostada
1 Bean Burrito
1 Large Dr. Pepper

After about an hour after, you'll take a dump worthy of song.

Then, good as new. 8)

Purple Heys,

We came away with a big victory last night 44-7, but I think I did your hangover cure all wrong.  I got the Taco Bell (value menu as instructed), but I did substitute the 1 large Dr. Pepper with something that had a little more kick (more like a punt). You were correct, the dump did happen about an hour later, but no song?? I don't feel like new right now? Do you think it might have something to do with that I got the Taco Bell on the way to the game?

Willy Penn and Central?.....Old Dutch would be the one to see. "I played when Willy Penn and Central were big rivals.  I think they beat us something like 42-6 my soph year." So, seeing that there's no recorded record of this victory on the internet. I would put that into the early 1920's. Adding that they used cheers like, "Rather be dead than red", that would verify that.

I do have to say I was feeling a little old and a little crazy before I read these, but now I feel just fine! ;D :o ::)

From the Central Media Guide, 1975:  Nov. 8 William Penn Oskaloosa L, 42-7.
Series record, Central vs William Penn 53-33-2
First meeting 1892 last defeat 1981
I can't believe I went to the trouble to prove a beat down!

Old Dutch / Sir,

I didn't mean for my post to be a beat down. I was weak in the times of reading some of the post and being antagonized with old pictures from people like doolittledog. I will try to keep myself under control when you include years like 1892 in your post. (State of Arizona was founded in 1912) and will ignore the fact that your user name includes the word Old. I will stay strong.
Please keep in mind that I did make Purple Heys older and that I did start the post with 'Sir'. A sign of respect to people, how should I say, that have been around a little longer. I promise to keep strong and under control in the future.

Klopenhiemer

Good morning guys and gals.  Been a while since I have been on and I wanted to drop a quick note and wish all teams good luck today, especially the Beavers.

I am in my office working today and I wanted to see if anyone knew if the Iowa vs. ISU game is being web streamed anywhere or if it can be listened to online.  I am at a loss on this one.  Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Klops

I have 2 questions:
1.  How do you spend $2 million on a soccer field?
2.  Why would you spend $2 millon on a soccer field?

Why would you spend 1 million on a soccer field??? ???

...priceless  :D

Do any high schools play at the other IIAC schools fields?
Last year Newton played a game on Central's field during a torrential downpour that would have had their field torn up something awful.  Though I think it was planned before the weather was known.  Central won't be having any Pella or Pella Christian games on their field this year as both of those schools put in field turf this summer.  Central's field is the "old, has been" of the town.

Not too many towns of Pella's size with 3 field turf fields!

Does PC have their own field at the new school now, or do they still share with PHS?
They have their own field now.  Thus 3 field turf fields in Pella.  It looks nice too!  Now if Kac would just send his best players to his alma mater...

I can think of 2 reasons why he maybe isn't:

1- His alma mater unceremoniously dumped him.  (that is just a guess and less likely, maybe he harbors no bitterness and that would actually seem in keeping with Kac's character)

2- He has serious concerns about the spiritual direction of his alma mater, which from certain reports played a part in his getting dumped.  aka: too much Jesus, not enough W's (This is an educated guess from some good sources, but I've never actually heard it from the horse's mouth, as they say.)

Airborne Dutch

Say what you will about the departure of Coach Kac, but he left on his own terms. He wanted to expand and grow with his family and I believe that he felt that a college head coaching position interfered with that and he put his family first. His style may not have been for everyone, but at no time did he force religion on any players. It was put out there but it was strictly up to the players if they wanted to join in. Central's athletic program is not shallow enough to force out a coach after an underachieving season. If Kac was "dumped" by the program because of not enough W's, don't you think they would have dumped the rest of the coaching staff too? Besides, i can think of at least one other coach on the Central athletic staff that takes the religion thing just as, if not more, serious than Coach Kac did.

I've had a year off so I need to be retrained on how to get the video of the Central game.  Anyone out there to give me some tech support?

My memory is nothing to rely on but it seems like last year, there was a video button to click on the Central Athletic site.  All I see this year is the "Listen Live" button and the "Live Stats" button.

Same here. I talked to Coach Evans and he said that there would be a link on that page you are speaking of.
