With the impressive win Saturday...how high does Central deserve to climb in the rankings? Opinions?

I would put them just out of the top 10...12ish...unless UWSP was very overrated - which I dont believe.

(I know rankings dont matter, but we arent coaches or players so why not throw it out there) :)
If I had a vote I don't know what place I would put Central in, but I would put them tied with Stevens Point.  They were about as evenly matched as I have seen two football teams.

I would agree with that.  Those two teams were very close.  Niether team was able to do anything really dominating to the other team.  At times each team stepped it up to put pressure on the other team but both kept on fighting.  A sign of a good team to not fold the tent.  I think both teams believed they would win.  Even when WSP was done with a minute left they were still fighting.

Rankings are out and Central raises to #16 and UWSP falls to #17.  That is half way from where the Dutch were which was fair.  Now the test will be can UWSP get on the winning track.  If they can it says a lot about the Dutch win.  I think they can win in the WIAC.  I know it will be a very tough road for them with all the good teams they have up there.  I do think they have the players to do it though.

Yea I agree DF04...sounds like I missed a heck of a game. I thought there were some interesting moves in the polls...Hardin Simmons loses to Linfield and falls farther than UWSP and Linfield comes from unranked to higher than Central. Ithaca was one spot behind UWSP last week and falls almost completely out of the rankings. Have Case Western Reserve and Monmouth beaten anyone of substance to be ranked that high? (I really dont know but it doesn't look like it.)

Either way it doesn't really matter, I would have had Central around 12 but we keep our winning ways it will all work out in the long run.

Well with the Linfield game you have to look at the man handling that the Cats gave them.  Maybe they belong up that high.  You are right though, take care of business for the Dutch and things will work out.  One game at a time.  Take care of business week to week and the Rankings don't matter.

Good point on the Linfield game. I hope UWSP wins out. On to DBQ

Plenty of interesting stats comparing Cornell-Grinnell-St. Norbert-Wartburg.  Sounds like some of you think the Rams should be favored.  Lets see:  Cornell is 7 better than Grinnell, St. Norbert is 3 better than Grinnel, that makes Cornell 4 better than St. Norbert, St. Norbert is 7 better than Wartburg, that make Cornell an 11 point favorite over Wartburg next Saturday.  Give me a call if you are taking the Rams and giving 11 1/2 points.

I'm not insinuating much of anything...just the stats of the games recently played.  It would be interesting if it does come to mean anything...just seeing which Kanigget backer would take the bait first.  You win.

Actually I figure you'd be willing to give 20 points...unless based on the above you're feeling a little squeamish...I mean seriously.  Your kaniggets have this one in the bag, right?...you should be willing to step up in support.

Tell you what; if the Rams come within 20, you paint your hair purple for the next Wartburg home game.

If the Kaniggets cover, you can ridicule me for my insolence in picking the Rams in this week's Pick'em.

Let's see what kind of huevos you have.   :D

And BTW...I can be in Iowa on Friday 9/25 to paint your head for you...   ;)

Well looking at the IIAC stats and the one that I was most shocked at is that after two games Wartburg was last in total defense.  I know that the defense is being rebuilt and there were a lot of holes to fill.  I know that there are reasons for it, I just didn't think I would ever see those numbers and Wartburg be there.

I'm hoping the Rams aren't the cure for that...    ;)

Last year we had trouble containing Yordi though the air and when he scrambled.

I think we have to contain them on the ground first...

Also, last year early in the game, we had them on their heels defensively.  Then 2 passes directly to kanigget defenders put the game effectively out of reach in the 1st half.  But regardless...moving the ball wasn't the issue...cashing in was.

Our QB is a more adept as a passer...though he's thrown 3 picks so far he's also thrown 5 TD's...last year we had 4 TD passes for the year.

We are not efficient in the red zone yet...we'll need to be to have any shot this weekend.

Thought for the day:

I never wanted to date Joe Namath - Who wants to be with a guy who has two bad knees and a quick release?

While your offer is tempting I think I'll pass.  I remember a September Saturday before you came on the IIAC scene.

September 15, 2001:
Cornell      26
Wartburg  13

This was an upset of such epic proportions, that only the events of four days earlier kept it from being headlines in newspapers around the world.

Is it just me, or does all of this talking about where Central is ranked sound not very Dutchlike?

I was a freshman when we won this game. I'm not sure the upset was as big as you're making it out to be (I also recognize your sarcasm). Yes, Wartburg was favored to win that game but the better team won that game.
