I may head to Ram country Sat to watch the Warts. I haven't been to Mt Vernon in quite a while. What are the options for pregame festivities (tailgating, local grill/pub,etc)? Thanks in advance.

Chameleon's can get packed in a hurry depending on when you go. You can head down the street a bit and eat/drink at Scorz. They have good food and lower prices than typical bar food.

Scorz is either a sports bar...or there is pole dancing there...or both I suppose ;D

Mrs. doolittle: How was Mt. Vernon?
doolittle: Great, we went to this place called Scorz.
Mrs. doolittle: How was the football game?
doolittle:  football game???

Simpson 30, Loras 10 — Winless Duhawks need a steady running game, STAT, and a cure for their turnover-itis (10 turnovers in two games!) or they will be looking at a lost season.

No. 16 Central 34, Dubuque 30 — Thriller alert: Cagey Spartans have played the mighty Dutch to three-point games each of the last two seasons. Dubuque takes Iowa Conference's best red zone offense (10-for-10 in scoring chances), No. 1 defense (yielding just 260 yards and change of total offense per week), league's top receiver (Michael Zweifel, who already has 23 catches for 286 yards and four touchdowns) and emerging tailback Justin Spaulding (averaging 7.3 yards per carry with four touchdowns) into ultimate progress litmus test.

High school "Miracle" games...

Uhhhhhhh, can't really think of any.  We weren't very good when I was in school.  In fact, my class didn't win a single game until Homecoming of our sophomore year (0-4 in 7th grade, 0-5 in 8th, 0-4-1 in 9th, 0-4 or 5 to start soph season).  That was a pretty big deal for us, as was earning a tie with Beckman freshman year.  Biggest wins we had were probably that first one, knocking Camanche out of the playoff race in our final home game as seniors, and an overtime win over Beckman my junior year.  That one came when their all-state kicker biffed a PAT that would have sent the game to a 3rd OT.

Sportsnight,
I have really found the true meaning of...Boy we sucked! I read a story this morning about an Arizona high school team.

Now we can both start feeling better about our high school football days!

66 games?  Good Lord.  That'd be 7+ seasons by Iowa's 9 game schedule.  Ouch.  I think Dubuque Senior went through a 50ish game losing streak in the late 90s, and I think Waterloo East's winless string was close to 50 games earlier this decade, but 66 is in a whole other ballpark.

At what point should it concern me that Wartburg d-backs are making so many tackles?  ???
Considering teams have thrown 100 passes on the Knights in 2 games, and run 47 times, I wouldn't be too concerned. You have to go back to '05 when an unathletic LB by the name of Alex Pollock lead the Knights D to find the last time a non-DB lead the team in tackles. '02 was the last time before that.

Non-DB?  What are you talking about?  He's a huge...oh wait, you meant defensive back.  Oh, that's something totally different then.   ;D

Sad to say as an Ewaloo alum the losing streak was 60 games. 4 games longer than their winning streak.

Ditto!! I can't remember the last time I was @ a Trojan game. I know I didn't see a single game during their losing streak, but didn't miss a game during their winning streak. I believe they actually had 57 games in a row without a loss. I think they tied the game before they went on their streak.

Forget all that, what about Miles Hookstead?  ;D ;D ;D  The Dutch better be ready for the UD offense, defense, special teams, miracle coach and miracle freshman with a sick dunk!  I've been looking at the www.dbq.edu site, but have not seen anything about webcast.  Is it available for tomorrow?   http://www.dbq.edu/udathletics/index.cfm   Found it on the athletics home page.

Conference stat leaders don't make any sense to write about at this point, after 2 games (against lackluster opponents) and not even in the conference season...mean less than rankings:) Either way they get to settle it on the field tomorrow!

Any Central fans making the trip over to the Key City tomorrow?  I'm on the fence about whether I'm going to the game or not.

I don't think either make much difference right now.

That said, Central is certainly the favorite tomorrow against the Spartans.

What is really sad is that there were only 250 people watching a 5A game in Phoenix.

The game was televised over here, along with being webcasted. Unfortunately it was my sons team on the losing end.
I did say in an earlier post that I wasn't sure about a win. The mini streak is over. Time to start it over with Central tomorrow! ;D

I know the last one in W'loo I went to was @ Sloane Wallace. I did get to a couple games when I was living in CR when E. High came to town and played Jeffy J-Hawk in NON-Conference games.

We have 10 game seasons here. They were in there 7th. season of losing. If you looked at the link to read the article/pictures, you would have thought that they won the Super Bowl! :o

My point is that saying conference stats leaders carries about as much weight as ratings this time of the year is all. Either way you have to do it on the field tomorrow.
