Central's announcers made constant reference to the impact the Dutch players had on the JV team last year.

We are at a competitive disadvantage on that front.

A JV program is a huge advantage. I remember seeing Zachary as a freshman when the Dutch played Coe in a JV game. You could see that he was going to turn into a quality player at the varsity level. When I talked to him after the game, he seemed like a nice, humble kid. I hope he still has those qualities now that he's "The Guy" in the backfield.

Congrats to Coe on a great game today. I was surprised that Boyle only ended up with 204 yards. I thought it was a lot more while watching the game. It was weird not being on the sideline but nice to see the guys play well. Weymiller is a beast. Nice job all around today.

...debating whether to go to the Redlands game to see DF2k4's kid coach....in Redlands this weekend to visit the folks.

If you do make sure he's doing his job.   ;D ;D ;D  PH Jr had over half of the Rams offense.  He is a play maker.  I think if he had more weapons around him he would even be better.  I am not surprised the Dutch won, I am surpised at how easily they won.  The Dutch have been improving each week.  If they continue they can become a really good team.

On the JV front  PH I think Cornell is at a really huge disadvantage numbers wise and that those younger players do not get to play games.  It's one thing to practice but it is totally another to play at game speed.  I know that JV games are not the varsity level but getting those kids the reps at game speed helps a lot in player development.

Being around DZ for four years now I can honestly say he has not changed a bit.  He is as humble now as he was when he was a freshman.  He has really blossomed into a good player.  He always had the talent.  I think he finally developed the body he needed to be a great RB in the IIAC.  David was a little undersized the first two years for the Dutch.  Coach Anderson has helped make the difference again.

Shocked by the beat down Coe put on the DBQ...

Zweifel's kid looked to have a hand injury last week and what I overheard as I was leaving last week's game sounded pretty serious.

I wonder if that boosted Coe's efforts to slow him down...he had a rather pedestrian day with 6 recpts for 40 or so yards.

Coe's offense sure got better in a hurry.

Not sure if Coe's offense got better in a hurry or playing the UD defense helped.  Not slamming the Kohawks but UD's D is not the Dutch D.  My question is what happened to the UD offense.  I thought all along that Coe would put that many points up on the Spartans.  Where did the offense go?  Was Hansen 100%?  What shape was Zweifel in?  If they were banged up then the UD O was at a huge disadvantage.

The other thing is I didn't think about it but UD has played the Dutch very well at home and on the road not so well.  UD being on the road at Coe maybe had something to do with it as well.  Just a theory about the away effort.

I think we ran into a team that completely understood the value of not letting us get in the game.

Maybe last year was a wake up call for the players...had the Rams somehow pulled this one off, it would just kill the great season the Dutch has going now.  The Dutch had no intention of letting that happen

Beating the Point really kickstarted them...regardless as to whether the Point pans out into any sort of team.  This Central team is playing with confidence and with chemistry...Snead is a very competent QB and his confidence is really growing.

Both lines do one thing real well:  Hustle.  They are active and they play to the echo of the whistle.

The D-line kid went down and his injury looks like it may keep him out, but the Dutch play team defense and don't seem to rely on just one guy to make plays.

Even though the Dutch don't look like an offensive juggernaut...they are solid across the board with a lot of very good...maybe not great...but very good, very well coached ballplayers playing with confidence.  They execute and don't make mistakes.  And they keep coming after you.  There's a lot to like about this team as it is developing.

Having seen the Kaniggets, the Dutch appear to be the class of our league.

I think Hansen would have been OK...I think Zweifel may have been hurting...but it appears the Ko-hacks defense really stepped up.

Maybe the way the DBQ beat us last week, put them with a little too much confidence in their ability.

We've now played 7 bad quarters in a row...but the last 4 were all due to the Dutch

I kind of felt we collapsed after our mistakes last week.

This week we were hammered from the get go.  The Dutch plowed right down the field and then hammered us to 3 and out and scored again.

The DBQ had us mismatched on the outside receivers.  The Dutch had us mismatched pretty much across the board.

But I did see a lot of effort from my boys...just not their day against this team.

Here's to another 4 ... Go Norse!  ;D

Kohawk Krazy

I'll try to shed a little light on today's game.  There is no doubt in my mind after last week and this week's performance that Central is a top-10 team in the nation.  They are solid.

The Kohawk offense looked good today.  I know the UD defense isn't great, but Coe nearly had two 100-yard rushers in this game, with one of them being a quarterback.  Hammes and Boyle had 19 and 20 carries each, not to mention he completed 80% of his passes.  I can only imagine it would have been more with Ratchford in there, but the rest of the WR's looked good.

As for the Defense, the Kohawks just flat out brought pressure on Hansen all day and forced him into some bad situations.  I had heard that UD's top two WR's were banged up, but I don't think that affected anything today.  The Kohawks just looked good in ever aspect.

It will be nice to have a bye this week, giving the Kohawks two weeks to prepare for Wartburg, in what I believe to be the game to decide second place in the Iowa Conference.  Don't know if we can get two teams in the playoffs this year, but this could be the game that decides who the second team is.

Ratchford got hurt last week didn't he.  I thought he got banged up on the far side of the field last week.  Will he be out long?

In fairness to your Rams I think that the Rams played with their backups most of the second half.  In my opinion it was a good thing for your staff to do.  The Rams clearly were not going to win and it gave the backups lots of PT to get better.  It also prevented the starters from getting injured and ruining the season for meaningless PT.

If the Rams can get more players like your son to stick around for four years it will help them a lot.

Congrats to the victors today. Impressive wins by the Dutch and by Coe. I need to quit picking Loras to win! The Norse grounds crew has their work cut out for them. From 30 yard line to 30 yard line, it's a giant mud puddle. A little grass left on both ends to work with, but that's about it.
