Good catch on that 49th season Dutch Hawk, those are some mad math skills!

I'l get in on the POY/COY speculation:  If BV only loses one more (who would that be too???) I still think Anderson could be COY, indications their off-season losses we as big as Warty's and look, they're in contention!  Of course Coach Mac has made these guys really click on a higher level this year, but I foresee a few more chances for him to get COY in years ahead.

As far as POY I gotta believe its DZ.  His stats aren't totally glossy, but he's hardly played a full half in the past three weeks.  Besides if the O-line is deserving, its normally the RB who gets the award.  Of course all this could change in the second half, Luther runs the table, I'd go Reynolds, if Warty turns it around Yordi could still be there, Boyd's working on a good year if they can go 9-1.

But what about a defensive player - who would be the best if we had a Defensive POY?

Ill take the bait on Defensive POY and go with Shane Wong (I know Im being a homer), but the kid has put up some mad stats thus far. Definitely a game changer.

COY POY talk is premature.  Coe could still end up with a losing record.  This is the IIAC where anyone can beat anyone on any given day. Cornell is going to be very hungry by the time the rivalry game comes along if they don't get to dine at the IIAC win table by then.  Macy is going to look at Clark Field like one big plate of Carne Asada at that point.  It's Wartburg's homecoming.  B.V. showed some bite last weekend as did Loras, and Simpson could live up to their potential.  We are only half way through the season people!

I agree that the talk is premature and that is why there are so many candidates for each of the awards.  There is no lock on either.  Central is the only team guaranteed to have a winning record at this point but could still have a down year if they would lose the next 4 games.  Cornell for all their woes could still come out at 5-5.  So the talk about this is all a big guessing game and just talk.  We can talk till we are all talked out and still we can be wrong.   ;D ;D ;D  The coaches will vote how they vote and all of our talk is meaningless anyway.   ;D ;D ;D.  Who knows if that Macy kid gets another 1,000 yards receiving and catches 20 TD passes in the next 5 weeks he would be a candidate as well. As Coocoo said this is the IIAC and anything can happen.

I don't think throwing out names for consideration for POY is a bad thing.  This is a message board after all.  I would suppose saying things like "if player x doesn't get POY then it's a travesty to mankind" would be a bit premature and stuff like that ;)

If I were Cornell, I would be thinking of ways to get that Macy kids grandparents to all of the games.  The one game they see him play in person he scores a TD and it was the only game Cornell won this year...consider that :o

Only if his dad were calling the plays... ;)   BTW, I think 15 TD's would be sufficient...   8)  He owes me a few more for my birthday.   :)

One thing:

All we have to do is beat Coe and it's a GREAT year.  And if anybody loses to us it's a HORRIBLE year.

BV is on the pressure cooker this week of avoiding being our slumpbuster.

Where's brothers Klop and B.O.Y. ?

although I dont think the NWC is the same caliber.

That's funny...I would say the same thing about the IIAC.  :)

Also, keep in mind that Linfield didn't roll off all 54 years in the NWC.  For about a 18 year clip from 1979-1997 Linfield was playing in the Columbia Football Association/Mt Hood Conference/NCIC and squared off every year vs the likes of Central Washington, Western Washington, Western Oregon, Simon Frasier, and Eastern Oregon along with the Willamette's and PLU's.    One other note...in 54 years Linfield has only had a 5-4 record 3 times...the other 51 years the 'Cats have had a record of 6-3 or better.  Not too bad.

I don't think it would be necessarily be a horrible year if you lost to the Rams. But there is definately added pressure to playing Cornell right now. It's kind of like playing musical chairs. We all know the music is going to stop. Where you going to be when it does? Norse safe for another year.

Not bad at all! I just wanted to rile one of you West Coasters up ;) All in good fun! I forgot that Linfield hadnt been in the NCAA that whole time.

That's pretty good alright.  But I still have one question.

When are you going to put a roof on that "dome?"    ;)  :D

As I looked back on the Wartburg game, at first I was surprised at the outcome.  Then the more I looked, I started to think BV is a lot better than at least I gave them credit for.  They are two plays and seven points away from being 5-0.  They gave up a late touchdown to UW-P and the last second fg to Simpson.  Now, I know it's all a bunch of "what ifs" and in reality they are 3-2, but the beavers are scary close to being undefeated and having knocked off the reigning conference champs.  Something to think about.
Terrell Owens was asked for one word to describe himself. He said "confident." When asked for another word he said "very."

BV isn't that good, Wartburg played that bad.
