I'm curious if anyone has tried to press cover / bump and run Zweifel -  he's got great hands, maybe slightly better than average speed but doesn't appear to be terribly physical.  I can tell from  watching a train wreck you aren't going to sit in Tampa 2 and give 10 yard cushion and do anything but help him set records.  Oh that's right Simpson did help him set 2 records.  I was pretty disappointed we didn't try something / anything different after say his first 10 catches.   Put your best athlete on him, knock the crap out of him coming off the line and then jump in his jock and stay there.

you shoudn't have a cushion in a tampa 2 - the corners are run support (shouldn't be off the line 10 yards), not the safeties, so either they weren't running the cover 2 or they weren't running it correctly...
[/quote]

I hate to state the obvious but we gave up 330 yards & 20 catches to one receiver - do you think we were running it corectly ??? :-[    To be fair corners probably didn't start 10 yards deep but hard back pedal netted same TOO BIG of a cushion on pass vs. run first step read.

What about moving Central to the North?

Assuming the MUC is getting shipped East - this allows UWW to stay #1 in the West and Wheaton gets the #1 in the North.

Of the ranked teams in the North, Central is within 500 miles of 4 of the schools...

Wheaton 291 miles
North Central 287 miles
Wabash 408 miles
Franklin 479 miles

Ship Central and Monmouth both to the North...#2 Central vs. #7 Wabash and #3 Monmouth vs. #6 North Central or something like that...and then the 2nd round matchup is still within the 500 miles...and a likely #1 Wheaton vs. Central/Monmouth also falls within that range.

I realize I'm talking WAAAAAAAAAY ahead - but that's the fun of the message boards, right?

Nice work, I was too lazy to look up all the mileage.  Sending Central and Monmouth North and MUC East would seem to alleviate some logjam.  There is just so much season left and like I said, the elephant in the room is what the weak sister conference's automatic bids do to available spaces in the North and West.

This is why I don't get the BCS argument for DI.  They claim a playoff would make the regular season less interesting and relevant.  I've never found that to be the case in DIII.

You lost me the first time I saw a picture from 2008.  Felt a lot longer than 4 minutes and change, too.

You sure the Dutch didn't already beat the Knights this year? It is kind of neat, and very similiar to what the Norse have been putting out as recruiting tools the past couple years. Which I'm sure is similiar to what other programs were putting out before that. Still neat and a good idea.

How about moving Wabash South, Muc and a team to be named later east, thereby opening up room for 1 or two teams to move from the West. Monmouth fits, but where do you go from there? If Wheaton wins out, they are a number one and UWW stays home. The right answer is St Johns or Central moving to the 2 seed in the North.

While I love the scenario's, although very premature, I don't see the selection committee making anywhere near this many moves.  They have demostrated the last few years, their willingness to move an obvious #1 around to get  better equity between the brackets, i.e. UWW to the north and Mount to the east, but that has been the extent of their intervention in the natural  geography of the brackets, I believe.  In 05, for example, UWW was the #2 in the country and in the West bracket and they had to beat the #1, #3 and #5 ranked teams in D-3 to get out of it.  It was unbelievably loaded but the selection committee still left everything as is.

Obviously Central plays all their games at home too.

Good point!  But after having MUC win the North seemingly forever, ANY change seemed 'good'! :D
Reminds me of about 10 years ago when Central started the first of 3 national championships in volleyball.  We had two incredible middle hitters and in one game one of them overheard a player on the other team mutter, "thank goodness she is finally moving to the back row" the player chuckled, knowing that her move to the back row meant the even stronger hitter was moving to the front row.  The one moving from back to front won DIII player of the year 2 years and the one moving from front to back won it the year after the other one graduated.

I had a feeling this was going to get a Steven Spielberg review. I was just having some fun (bored). I possible could have fine tuned it with my simple laptop, but I wasn't that bored. You have to remember I'm a first year fan. I wouldn't be able to tell you the difference between a '06, '08 or '09 picture. My sourse of watching games is a streamline that jumps every 2-3 seconds, but I will get out there some day. I'm interested in seeing the faces behind the user names!   :o ::)

Also, I joke around about the great weather we're having out here, but trust me I would rather be out there tail gating in the cold with all of you!  ;D

Nice story!  A similar situation would be MUC opponents who breathed a sigh of relief when the Raiders' all-OAC running back was injured in the final regular-season game of 2005.  His replacement? Some dude named Nate Kmic (who ran for over 1000 yards in the 2005 post-season alone)! :o

Only MUC (and now, perhaps, UWW) could find a Nate Kmic riding their bench! :D

Will we be able to get the Central Loras game through Loras's website?
