hazzbeen - wouldnt be surprised to see some big shifts. Central finishes out with tougher opponents than both SJU and Linfield. And if UWW wins convincingly against quality WIAC opposition they can move up to. I dont think its  out of the questiong to have a West team move North and MUC move east given the depth of the West.

The rankings surprise me.  I am shocked that UWW is 4th.  I am also surprised that Linfield is 1.  They can change a lot with the last three weeks.  I think UWW can move up as they have two real tough games with UWSP and UWL to play yet.  I think UWW loses some playing only 5 in region games.  Points made about Monmouth, Central, and UWW being able to be moved are valid.  I would say that Monmouth or UWW would be more likely than Central as the miles for Central may be higher than the NCAA would like.

UD backup QB Kevin Hartzog hit by car on campus.  Initial report looked bad, but update says he was treated and released from the hospital.

Kevin Hartzog had some bruising on one leg. Very, very lucky!!!! Other players saw him immediately after the accident and after being looked over at the hospital and said that he is doing well.

He's a pretty strong dude...how did the car fare?   ;)

Dont worry about anything other than Buena Vista, take care of business on the field and don't make it close. Dominate!

Leave the playoff banter to the professional message board banterers ;)

These first West region rankings will certainly change week by week so no one should get too excited about a potential seeding.  UWW's pathetic .350 OWP will undoubtedly increase after they beat UWSP and LaCrosse.  Linfield's will go down as Puget Sound and Pac Lut. has 2 wins between them.  Central may go up some as BV should end about 7-3 6-4 and Wartburg at WORST will be 5-5.  The Johnnies still have all .500 opponents on the schedule so look for them to stay about where they are.  The one thing I do know is Monmouth probably doesn't get over .500 since they have 5-3 Illinois Col. and 0-8 Knox left on the schedule, so the best they can hope for is UWW to go North so they get a #4 and one home game.

Um, with BV sitting at 4-3 right now---I don't think you want them going 7-3. OWP isn't that important.

Couldn't agree more. Talk is cheap, it takes wins to even have a sniff at the playoffs. Control what you can control, Kohawks. Duhawks, Beavers and Rams, in that order.

Agreed, and as Old Dutch pointed out, Linfield SOS is about to take a serious hit.  IMO they need to blow Puget Sound and PLU out in order to prevent a slide in the regional rankings.  Assuming SOS was a main consideration in why they were ranked #1, and not just the fact that they have someone on the West region committee  ::)

Control what you can control

Charlie, this is my favorite thing to say as a coach.  It is all encompassing and if the kids really buy into this line of thinking, they can achieve a higher level of success.  Ultimately, football is a game of individual battles melded together to form team success and failure.  You have to take care of your own assignments and trust in your teammates to do the same.  When it all clicks, great things happen.
