Our defense can't make a play, after our offense didn't make a play

This one was hard to get over.

This was one to win...gotta regroup and go at Loras...last time at Ash Park we had them on the ropes...no McGrew this time to bail them out.

After a bye break that's just plain sad.

It could have been a closer game in Decorah today.

The Norse really shot themselves in the foot when, with the ball on the Wartburg 1, they gave up a pick six.  Not often you get to witness a 99 yard interception return.  The other killer for Luther had to be the Wartburg time consuming drive at the end of the third quarter and the beginning of the fourth.  It had to eat 10 minutes on the clock.

The Norse knew how to be mudders.  Their quarterback wouldn't get nervous sitting in the pocket.  He knew, in all that slime, the Knight defense wasn't going to get to him.  The Norse o-line would circle the wagons and just push the Knights a little to keep them off balance.  It was actually quite humorous to watch.  Wartburg seemed to understand a pass rush in the mud was problematic so much of the afternoon it appeared they went with a three man rush and dropped everyone else back into coverage.  Regardless the Norse seemed to be able to frequently find an open receiver.

The Norse's #3 lost his cool late in the game and picked up two personal fouls.  The Norse probably weren't going to win any way, but his dumb moves certainly sealed their fate.

After somebody tries to be tough guy against my team, I wouldn't have been so kind as Coach Willis.  I don't think I would have taken a knee at the end of the game.  I might have tried for a needless final touchdown.  That is one of several reasons why he's a coach and I'm not.  One more touchdown wasn't going to make any difference and why try to humiliate the rest of the Luther team just because one guy is a jerk?

According to the Upper Iowa Peacock's web-site, they lost a close one today, 48-17.  The Peacocks drop to 2-8 for the season.

The stat sheet shows 723 brave souls attended the Peacock game today.  I knew it was going to be a huge crowd.  We drove by Eicheid Stadium at 11:20 (arrived in Decorah at 12:00 so 11:20 is an estimate).  There were two cars in the Peacock parking lot.   There were also two co-eds manning the gate, so the cars may have belonged to them.  I would have expected to see a few people tailgating at a "big time" D2 game. ;)

I guess painting a skunk brown doesn't make him a squirrel.

Kohawk Krazy

The Kohawks looked good once again today.  Although the score was 38-13, it wasn't that close.  The first Loras TD should never have been.  Coe was called for Pass Interference on a play that wasn't even close that Coe picked off in the end zone.  One or two plays later, the Duhawks scored.  Coe also fumbled on 4th and goal from the 1 late in the game, that could have easily been a TD had they left the starters in for the play.

Either way, the Kohawks looked good once again today.  Big game in Storm Lake this week.
