According to the Upper Iowa Peacock's web-site, they lost a close one today, 48-17.  The Peacocks drop to 2-8 for the season.

The stat sheet shows 723 brave souls attended the Peacock game today.  I knew it was going to be a huge crowd.  We drove by Eicheid Stadium at 11:20 (arrived in Decorah at 12:00 so 11:20 is an estimate).  There were two cars in the Peacock parking lot.   There were also two co-eds manning the gate, so the cars may have belonged to them.  I would have expected to see a few people tailgating at a "big time" D2 game. ;)

I guess painting a skunk brown doesn't make him a squirrel.

I like that UIU is trying.  But like you say about painting a skunk...UIU is in Fayette!!!  The school is doing well finantially because of their diploma mills...I mean centers.  And it is nice they are putting $60 million into their Fayette campus.  But in the end, that really isn't any more money than many of our IIAC schools have put into their campus' over the past decade.  Their football team this year was finally able to bring in quite a few Iowa kids.  Their football team hasn't shown any improvement on the field.  But maybe over the next few years having more Iowa kids on their roster MIGHT improve their attendance.  In the end, I still can't figure out how moving to D2 has, or will make things better for Upper Iowa.

Having Upper Iowa and William Penn in the conference in the past made it nice for those of us in eastern Iowa.  But, I really don't miss either of them.  9 schools is a nice number to have.  If 1 more team was ever added I would love to see a western team join up so BVU wasn't sitting out there all by themselves.

doolittle made some good points.  There did appear to be some building go on at the UIU campus.  There area south of the rec center was all torn up and I assume there is a big project going on in that area.

The downtown Fayette area looks better.  There is some building improvements going on there.  Perhaps the grants that were announced for improving the image of the town are paying divedends.  I think the idea someone had to improve the town's appearance was a great move.

I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

This has absolutely nothing to do with football,
except that maybe some dads should stick to watching football.
I just posted this to give you a Sunday morning laugh. ;D :o ::)

Just going to go slit my wrist and drink draino

PH - Hope you're on the mend - Cornel played pretty well.  I do feel better that we didn't sit in cover 2 but changed up some and ran a fair amount of man.  Jr. split the seam on a cover 2 and from then on Simpson seemed to change it up enough to keep your young QB guessing and let front 7 put more pressure on him.

Wartburg looked a lot better yesterday when Yordi wasn't afraid to tuck the ball and run.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

The Wartburg Football home page would be more enjoyable with cover pictures of the Luther or Dubuque game rather than the one of the Coe game.  :-[

Purple Heys:  Hang in there.  The sun will come up tomorrow.

The sun came way up...more on that at a future time.  Thanks.   :)

Still....CRAP!   I will say the OT loss to Central was worse in terms of not being able to sleep afterward.

I'll be there for the next one and cheering as loud, if not louder, for the Rams as anybody.   8)

Couldn't find any Draino and we were all out of Sierra Nevada.   Hard to get an angle with the triple blade razors these days, too.  So ya'll have me to kick around for the rest of the year  :(

I just gotta ask WHY?  Why does Simpson decide to make changes now...I mean...wait a week for gosh sakes.  They didn't do this it for Central, why treat us any different?  ???  ;D
