We were parked across the street from the front door of the Regents Center, we were right on the corner where the street makes the turn.  It was a 50 foot walk from the Wartmobile to the ticket table.  If you saw the limo parked there after the game, you saw the W-mobile with orange plates and all.  We were right next to it.  The pre-game tailgating was rather mild this year.  We just joined the Knight fans north from the location where we were parked.

It's curious how one play can completely change the outcome of a game.  The 99-yard pick six was a 14 point was turn swing and was the deal breaker in a statistically even game.  In the end, Wartburg made the play and the Norse didn't, so congratulations with the win.

One play does not a season make, however.  I'm headed to UD this Saturday and am cautiously optimistic about Luther's chances even though Luther hasn't played well in Dubuque in November, losing to Loras twice and Dubuque once in over the last 3 years.  This years itteration has the added drama of two Former WIAC coordinators facing off (Zweifel former OC at UW-W and Durnin former DC at UW-L).  Here's hoping to a good game, good weather and a happy drive home.

Too bad I missed you.  I was drawn to the Orange "W" flag just to the north.  I even stopped to ask if anyone knew of someone knicknamed Warthog and must admit I felt really stupid doing that.  Even so, the Sukow's and Richardson's?? were nice enough and offered me some broken glass and rusty nails from their tailgate.  Nummy!

Man, this is the first Central/Wartburg game I'm going to miss in 13 seasons. I have tickets to Iowa/Northwestern in Iowa City.

Anyone want to volunteer to send me score updates?  ;)

Send me a PM I can text you the scores if you would like.

EDIT:  I already send them to Cali so sending you a forward is not problem at all.   ;D ;D ;D

Senior Day at Cornell.  Coming to Iowa to watch the last 2 games in Jr.'s college career.  Where did the time go? :o

Senora Heys is all worried about the weather..we had to go buy her a cold weather coat.  Rev. 3 is coming too.  Looking forward to a fun time in Iowa regardless of the games' outcomes.
The weather this weekend is supposed to be unseasonably warm, so that should help.  Make the trip down to Pella for a campus visit for Heys3 if you get the chance.

Or...My favorite Central:
4) Damn, my kid should have gone there.   :D

Just kidding, I know he is happy at Wartburg and given what you are probably paying, that is as it should be.

I happen to have 2 kids at Wartburg.
So you screwed up twice, huh?   ;) ;) ;)

What can I say? They know class when they see it.
Good response.  You're okay footballdaddy.

Oh, and prepare to see some class on Saturday.   ;)

I know the Dutch will be as gracious in defeat as they are in victory.
We are that.  Hope the knights are too.

I'll speak up for the Coe fans.

Unlike most Coe fans, Cornell does not scare me in the slightest.  They are not on the same level as Coe.  If they rise up and beat us, I will rue that statement, but I am not going to hide and say that the scare me in the slightest.  If the Kohawks lose this year against Cornell, they don't deserve any recognition for the good season!

This weekend scares me.  BV is a tough team and its a long travel.  I feel like this Coe team is extremely prepared for anything the Beavers throw at them.  Coe is more talented and should win, but its still a bit scary.

Am I the only one who doesn't think that the "big" Central v Wartburg game is going to be close?  Its the top team in the conference and the #5 team in the country against a team that hasn't been particularly good this season (by their standards).  The Knights are a middle of the road team this year as evidence by their #4 ranking in team offense and their #4 ranking on team defense.  Central is the #1 team on offense and #2 on D.  I see this game as a 31-17 kind of game in favor of the Dutch.  I may be wrong, but nothing I have seen so far this season would lead me to think otherwise.

Its a two horse race for Conference MVP.  Brad Boyle and David Zachary.  Zachary gets an edge for being on the best team, but Boyle gets an edge for his contributions both in the air and on the ground with 16 passing TDs (2nd in the conference) and 8 rushing TDs (3rd in the conference).

I think if Coe wins out, Staker should be the hands down COY due o the fact that his peers thought this Coe team was good enough to finish 7th in the preseason poll.

Just my two cents.

The weather should be beautiful - 60 degree temps, even! It's going to be balmy!

You all can thank me later for bringing my family and my weather to Cornell's Senior Day    8)

If Coe wins out, Boyle is your MVP hands down.  It pains me to say that as a Ram supporter, but no other player has been more instrumental to his teams success this year.  He has thrown the ball well, ran the ball well, and taken care of the ball better than anyone else(0 ints thus far) and in doing so may lead Coe to a playoff birth, something I'm not sure many, if any outside CR, were talking about before the start of the season.
Terrell Owens was asked for one word to describe himself. He said "confident." When asked for another word he said "very."

Central turned out to be 6-4 last year while Wartburg went on to win 2 play-off games.  And yet, the score in last year's game was 19-17.  One fewer big play by the Knights or one more by the Dutch and the result would have gone the other way.  Football games turn on peculiar things.  I don't take the Wartburgers lightly despite their struggles this year.

I think a strong case can be made for Nate Snead for player of the year.  He has 9 passing td's and 13 rushing including the game winner against UWSP.  His qb efficiency rating is 138.08 vs Boyle's 131.2.

I don't think it SHOULD be a close game either if you look at how both teams have played all season and the stats.  But as we so rudely pointed out to footballydaddy ;), stats aren't everything.  Willis has a way of getting WB fired up to play Central, no matter how the rest of the season goes.  Not to say that Central cannot be equally as fired up, but where other teams come flying onto the field with excitement, the Dutch can be seen almost marching on with quiet determination.  I will take whichever method gets a win for the Dutch.  But things don't always go the way one would think.  I'm sure that looking back on how Central finished the season last year, WB surely thinks they should have won by more than a last second field goal.

But I am with you in spirit, I don't THINK it should be a close game.  But I won't be surprised if it is.

Obviously, I would like to see these kind of honors go to the Dutch, but there is a valid case to be made for Boyle and Staker that should keep the Dutch fans from complaining about how unfair it is if Zachary or Snead and Mac don't win.  Not that anyone would complain about not getting COY when their team wins the conference.  That would never happen.   :o :o :o
