FWIW, I agree with you -- Central fans, who used to be known for their quiet confidence, have been pretty exuberant and excitable this year. The playoff talk began way too early in the season.
I think upbeat is a more appropriate term.  Last year was a difficult one for us Dutch fans, so when this year started out well, I think fans were more upbeat about what to expect.  Except for me, who was on here whining about being rated too high.   ;)

As to playoff talk, I think it starts very early every season and don't know that this year is any different, other than which fans are talking about it.  Plus, since none of us are players, I'm not sure it is fair to admonish fans from any team about when they talk about playoffs.  Speculation and conjecture are part of the fun and if any of us talk about playoffs early and the team takes a major nosedive, those fans are the ones that will be taking a bruising from the board.

I think the Dutch fans try to be realistic, good or bad, and I think we always show respect to our opponents, outside of a few joking barbs when playing Simpson and Wartburg.  I appreciate that and hope that we continue to be respectful of all of our opponents.  But we shouldn't have to hide or suppress our support for our team either.

While some people just don't like the Dutch...there are those that like to "pass the Dutchie 'pon the left hand side"

Ok, that is 25 years old and a bit vague, but oh well.  It worked Dutchie in there!!!

Double D, what if I told you that I was too young to get the reference? ;)

Personally I love this tag. That show my age though!

Is there any particular reason that the fans of the Midwest Conference don't know how to use capital letters?  Maybe, the fans that have posted on here that I will leave unmentioned, should have spent more time in class and less time breaking down their favorite team's two-deep roster!

Coming from an unbiased mind (since the rams unfortunately are not involved)...I understand Dutch fans wanting to stump for their team/players, but I don't get their inability to accept an alterior scenario.  It almost seems like some have taken offense to the fact the Zachary is not a consensus POY.  He may very well win it, but the season isn't over and I think its naive to think he should just be given the award today.  The Dutch have a very difficult game ahead and everyone else (minus simpson) has two games remaining.  Much can change between now and then, and it's unreasonable to think otherwise.
Terrell Owens was asked for one word to describe himself. He said "confident." When asked for another word he said "very."

Agree and Agree.  I think Coe, should they and Bethel win out, will probably be in.

As for Central, I think they move past Linfield in the final weeks, but I don't see them getting past SJU or Whitewater.

I think Whitewater ends up #1, SJU #2, Central #3, Linfield #4 (provided they all win out).  I think 2 through 4 are interchangeable, but Linfield's SOS is going to keep sinking.  Having a bye the final week may hurt Central from the standpoint that they won't be able to make a final impression on the regional committee.  Of coarse, if Carleton keeps it close against SJU, that could be enough for the Dutch to jump SJU.  We'll see...

Agree with you, except I dont expect UWW to be in the west anymore. So SJU/Central 1 and 2, Linfield 3, Monmouth 4.

A Bethel win helps, but probably isn't required for Coe to get in.  Playing in Collegeville seems likely.

I agree that there is a very tough game for the Dutch upcoming and much can change.  Point to a post that I have said that Zachery has MVP locked up?  I have never said that Boyle has no chance at MVP.  I don't think there are too many other options this year for MVP.  The only crazy stat that Boyle has is no INT's this year.  He hasn't thrown for like 5,000, He hasn't thrown for 30 TD's, He hasn't a perfect record, I don't think you can accept that we agree to disagree about YOUR choice.  Time will tell as I have said before.  We are only stating our opinions just as you are stating yours.

No one has come out and said it, but I feel like there are some who are put off by the fact that I don't.  Boyle doesn't have any crazy stats, but neither does Zachary.  One is the league's leading rusher, and the other is the league's leading passer.  I don't have a choice for POY.  I said, that if Coe wins out, I think Boyle should win.  I've also said that I think Zachary could easily win.  My problem is that the Central supporters here are just kickin Boyle off to the side, and some have even suggested Snead, as well as Zachary, should be talked about for POY.  I have nothing invested in either team, and really, really don't like Coe (sorry, but it kinda goes without saying).  So yes, I don't accept that you all agree to disagree with me, but that's because as a collective whole you are unwilling to see more than one side of the debate.

Not to mention that the Dutch fans are quick to point to the fact that Boyle is in a pass first offense and that is the reason that he puts up nice numbers for Coe.  HOWEVER, the same Dutch fans won't acknowledge that DZ is in the exact same senario for Cental only its a run-first offense, so Central's running back should lead the conference in rushing.

Also, when comparing the two, don't use the "well Zachary would have even better numbers if he played more in the second half" argument.  Zachary still has had 24 more carries than anyone in the Iowa Conference.
