I was hoping that my post about the amount of Red on this board would be taken in obvious jest, however, I seem to need to make it a point to say that I was only kidding.  To quote Chris Meyers of Fox Sports Radio, "I kid because I care!"

However, Mr. Snead, while being an outstanding player, has zero chance of getting POY.
How about if he puts up some big numbers against Wartburg?  Hypothetically speaking of course.

Good question.  Just not sure how good of numbers one can put up only taking half of the snaps.

Alright, What's Wartburg going to have to do to pull the upset Saturday?
And to piggyback on an earlier topic- If there is a Central player that is in the running for POY, and they win the title, they will get it over anyone else.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

I think the key for Wartburg is to keep the game close, not turn the ball over, and stop the running game of Central.  The Knights also have to protect Yordi and not take sacks so that the offense does not put themselves in second or third and long.  I think they have to be able to run the ball and not let themselves get one dimensional.

And I will add to all of that, block a punt and get penalized less than 40 yards.

Agree with you, except I dont expect UWW to be in the west anymore. So SJU/Central 1 and 2, Linfield 3, Monmouth 4.

I think (and hope) that UWW will get sent North.  But I think the final closed ballot for the West Region committee will list UWW as the #1 seed.

If it doesn't rank UWW #1 (which would be a massive indictment of the committee) I think the likely team moved will be Monmouth.  Moving Monmouth would be nice, but not nearly the help that moving UWW would be.  If they move UWW North and MUC East, there is at least some amount of parity brought to the brackets.  If MUC and UWW stay North and West respectively, you have two ridiculously stacked regions, one so - so region (south) and one really diluted region (East).

I really think all the top 4 in the West would have a very good chance at winning either the East or South and a MUC-less North.  However, if UWW stays West, I don't see them losing the region.  That says a lot about the depth of the West, but also a lot about the dominance of MUC and UWW.

Wartburg needs to do two things:

#1 Keep playing with the improvement shown in the last two weeks. The Knights have been getting better as the season has moved on.

#2 Don't worry about what Central is going to do, make Central worry about what Wartburg is doing. Dictate the game to the Dutch and make them the team that has to react.

As I said in the pick em's, Central doesn't HAVE to win this game. They will still be IIAC champs and will still get a decent seeding at 9-1. The Dutch don't need anyone getting hurt in this game and not being available at full strength in the playoffs. Wartburg, on the other hand, needs this game to keep their 16 year string of 7 or more wins alive. This senior class doesn't want to be the ones to break the string.

My biggest fear is not losing on Saturday, but winning and then letting down against Simpson.

Check out the link below regarding a story about WIAC non-conference scheduling starting in 2011.  They must schedule a fellow WIAC team as a "non-conference" game, meaning that they will end up playing one team twice in the same year!  How will that impact the IIAC teams who have scheduled a WIAC opponent in the past?

My keys to Wartburg winning the game saturday.

1.  Establish the run.
2.  Convert on 3rd down.
3.  Pressure on Central's QB w/o blitzing LB's.
4.  Yordi being able to use his feet to gain yards when protection breaks down.              (I believe he may be healthy enough now to do this and won't try to force the ball).

Dr. Lou has left the building.  ;D

Go Knights!!!!!

Win or lose we still booze!!

I was just looking at that.  I don't think it will have much of an affect on IIAC teams that have scheduled WIAC teams for non-con games.  The WIAC traditionally has trouble filling out a 10 game schedule due to few D3 schools out there willing to play them.  They have 3 non-con games to fill to the 2 that IIAC teams have.

Coe's keys to victory:

1. Give yourself plenty of time to get there.
2. Give your self time to get acclimated to the higher elevation, 703 feet up to be exact.
3. Get use to the new time zone (Mountain Standard Time).
4. Play the wind.
I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

There have been IIAC basketball games postponed in the past due to weather.  Have we ever had any football games postponed due to weather?  Or, has any team ever had a mechanical breakdown en route to a game that forced a late start or something along those lines?

I am pretty sure the Central/Bethel playoff game a couple of years ago was delayed an hour or two due to snow.  At least I think that is what I remember.  Just curious if that has happened much over the years or if a game has even been delayed a few days or even a few weeks.

In my opinion, the knights will not be able to STOP Centrals ground game, nor will they be able to get much from their running backs on the ground. For Wartburg to win, they need to win the field position battle and force the Dutch to put together long drives and not give up any big plays. Turn the ball over and give them a short field-- you lose. I do think the QB and recievers (including the running backs) for the Knights will give Centrals defense as much trouble as anyone they have faced to date.

It looks like it should be a beautiful day in Waverly Saturday and I am really sorry I can't be there.  Despite what some seem to think of Central fans, this one knows the season isn't over and I expect the Warts to be as competitive as ever.  So, I hope Central keeps getting better because I expect Saturday will be a battle and I sure don't see any easy play-off games coming up.
