It also looks to me that those teams, minus Elon, probably don't have very good defenses either.

Regardless Zweifel's numbers are pretty impressive.  Obviously teams have been able to beat Dubuque but nobody has been able to shut him down.  The same was true in our league.  River Falls wasn't that difficult to beat but nobody shut Zweifel down.  He's a very talented receiver regardless of how many games Dubuque has won or lost.

I don't know that he'd get your league's POY because there are several other very good players in the IIAC and POY's don't tend to come from losing teams.   None the less I would have to believe that his name might be mentioned in the discussion.

I'm just sayin'   ;) ;D

Congrats to Nate Snead - IIAC Male Athlete of the Week
For the second time this season.  I'm just saying...

Boyle has won Offensive Player of the Week 3 times this year, the most of anyone in the league.

I'm just saying...

The IIAC figured they couldn't give it to Zweifel EVERY week.  So they spread the Athlete of the Week award around to some other schools...I kid, I kid  ;D ;D ;D

What about the freshman TE from DQ howd he do any players of the week ????

...but I expect Owen and Rachal to emerge as offensive leaders of the O-Line...they will be seniors.

Add Isaac Hull to that list.  Didn't mean to omit him in the first place...such is the lot in life for lineman to be anonymous.  He's gonna be needed to provide senior leadership next year on the line too.

An experienced line with size and talent should help the Rams continued improvement.

He's been injured ;D ;D ;D

Actually he has been injured most of the last 3 weeks.  I hope you did notice I was making these posts in jest.  As were most of the original posters as well.

Actually, Hookstead has pretty good stats for a freshmen TE.  Actually any TE with a last name not Macey!!!

For the season Hookstead has 22 receptions for 235yds and 3td's

Actually no tight ends in the IIAC were named offensive player of the week.

Here's how they stack up:
Receptions:  1. Macey (50) 2. McCarty (27) 3. Hookstead (22)
Receiving yards: 1. Macey (547) 2. McCarty (265)  3. Leuschen (236) 4. Hookstead (235)
Touchdowns: 1. Leuschen (4) 2. Hookstead (3) 3. Macey (2)

Macey: Senior
Leuschen: Junior
McCarty: Sophomore
Hookstead: Freshman

Considering the overwhelming majority of Dubuque's passes go to Zweifel I think Hookstead is making a fairly decent showing of himself.  He may never get a POW but as a freshman he's already one of the top receiving tight ends in the IIAC.

Yea, to bad for him they trashed that pass happy offense of the past couple years in favor of the new power running attack. ;D  Are you kidding me? They throw the ball around so much, he could have had a half dozen balls inadvertantly get stuck in his earhole.

TE's are just the good looking cousins of the big uglies as Keith Jackson used to call 'em.  And you don't get many  - - - -  of the week awards as a big ugly.   Whoa Nellie!

Just listened to the ATN podcast.  Its encouraging to hear them give Coe a virtual lock on a pool C IF THEY WIN this weekend.  St. Thomas would be ahead of them in the west and a third team (Redlands) from the west coast is a possibility, that could make things interesting.

Here's my pick for match-ups, assuming UWW goes North

#1 St Johns vs #7 Coe
#2 Central vs #6 Pac Lutheran
#3 Linfield vs #8 Redlands
#4 Monmouth vs #5 St. Thomas

UWW stays west, Redlands is not in, basically move 'em all down one and match Pac Lut with Linfield, Tommies to Pella (avoiding the conference rematch)

Sorry to bring up playoffs with a week to go, but no Dutch contest to worry about this week you know.

I agree

QuoteOkay, I'm really showing my age here.  Way back in 1988...

Now, that was a great story for here and around the campfire.

Okay, do you agree that I'm really showing my age or that it was a great story???  Okay, both.  Can't fight the truth.   :'(

Okay, Klomp, you're showing your age alright, , but probably in a different way than what you realized.  Central played Augie in the Stagg Bowl in '84, but in 1988, after all that you shared, they beat Augie on an OT TD, then went on to play Ithaca in the championship.

Don't worry, though, there's lots of nice rest homes out there.
Hey, Watch it Mav45, I know who you are!!!   ;)

If you go back and reread my post, I didn't say we played Augustana in the Stagg Bowl, I said we beat Augustana in double OT and the Dutch found themselves in the Stagg Bowl.  No memory lapse there.  I remember the olden days, it's today I have a hard time remembering what's going on.   :'( :'( :'(

But if you want to talk about the olden days and that '84 Stagg Bowl team, we could.  There was this running back, #45...

Please make sure you take a moment today (Veteran's Day) to recognize and/or remember our service men and women and all of the veterans that have made this country what it is today.

Mav45, your nephew has had some fantastic fingertip catches this year.  Is he planning to come back and play out his last season of eligibility after missing last year with an injury?

If those teams are the teams that are in the West Bracket, then I see the games being somewhat like this.

#1 SJU hosting Coe

#2 Central Hosting ST Thomas

#3 Linfield Hosting Monmouth

and #7 Redlands Hosting #8 Cal Lu.

The NCAA won't pay for more than one flight per bracket per round.  This way there is only one flight per round.

I thought that the NCAA gets two flights per round to play with.  So, if they could do the other 3 brackets without a flight, they could do 2 flights in the west, no?  (I have no idea if they can do the other brackets without flights, and I assume that'll still be up in the air until the end of the weekend)

By now, pretty much everyone knows Freddy's story but the Bills have a pretty good video on their website about how he got there. They even mixed in some old Coe footage.
