Terrell Owens was asked for one word to describe himself. He said "confident." When asked for another word he said "very."

Long time reader, first time caller...

Is it too early in the post-season to discuss potential coaching turnovers? The time seems to be ticking by SLOWLY at Loras and Cornell for their head coaches. Loras keeps getting worse and Cornell just stays the same.

IowaConferenceFan makes his 1st post this morning with that...then a few minutes ago we get...

My wife said I can't come to the game.  I'll be glued to the internet with BBQ in hand though.

sounds like it's time to get a new wife  and go fishing too  :o
She's put up with me for 15yrs.  That's more than anyone should have to do.  ;D  Besides its a money thing.  If we had the money she'd just say have a nice trip.

It's because she's a HSU grad isn't it???  she's just bitter   :P

So what should we expect from Central? How big are their linemen? Do they have the speed to contain UMHB? I know they both run the ball, but I would not be surprised if they try to pound the rock. Im hoping UMHB can decimate them with physicality and speed.  >:(

I think its a safe statement that the physicality aspect leans in favor of Central, and looking at stats along w/ SOS, UMHB hasn't seen a rushing attack like the Dutch are capable of. But I also think its safe to say the great equalizer of speed leans to MHB.
I'd venture a guess that Central hasn't seen a running game like UMHB's this season either.  Reality is that the UMHB defense is built to win in our conference, which is somewhat pass happy.  So it's fast and aggressive.  That can be a problem sometimes, but since everyone is fast over pursuit is minimized.  The biggest worry going into this game is penalties.  The Cru averages 97.1 yds per game in penalties, and it has cost them.  In their loss to MC, UMHB had 95 yds in penalties compared to 48 for MC.  If UMHB plays sloppy like that it will be a long afternoon.  Of course with both teams being run first, this could be a very fast, low scoring affair.
I saw the penalty stat but I wasn't going to say anything because I hoped the UMHB folks thought it wasn't excessive.  The other thing you might want to worry about are the 13 lost fumbles.  Central will take all of the help opponents give them, including unbalanced defenses.  The NCAA didn't do the Dutch any favors, but they did make it interesting.  I am looking forward to an exciting game Saturday.
That fumble lost number doesn't really concern me.  There's no one on the team with a fumbling problem.  There are 3 people with more than one fumble: 2 are QBs (and 2 of those were in a freshmans first college game) and one is out for the season. Going through the numbers there were 5 lost fumbles by running backs, which is less that 1 fumble/ 100 carries.  Besides its the playoffs, anyone who gives up turnovers will likely be stacking the pads sooner than later anyway.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

She has a Master's from HSU and Bachelor's from UMHB like I do.  I'm not even sure she claims to be an alumnus of HSU.
The UMHB roots run deep.  Her grandmother graduated from MHB College in 1937, and in all something like 4 generations of her family have gone there.  Here family was honored with a Parker Award in the 90s for the families dedication to the school (after her grandmother endowed a scholarship in social work in her honor).
She also makes much more money than I do. She's one of those driven types.  Which is so opposite of me its comical.

Or, drive 6 hours north to watch their team at an all-male college.

While SJU is technically all-male, the College of Saint Benedict is a few miles away, and all classed are co-ed.  It's basically one coed university, with males housed at SJU and females at CSB.  Probably more than you cared to know, but there is no lack of females.

A tradition unrivaled...
MIAC Champions: '32, '35, '36, '38, '53, '62, '63, '65, '71, '74, '75, '76, '77, '79, '82, '85, '89, '91, '93, '94, '95, '96, '98, '99, '01, '02, '03, '05, '06, '08, '09, '14, '18, '19, '21, '22, '24
National Champions: '63, '65, '76, '03

And if the Co-Ed classes don't work they just have TDT wear a woman's coat to the Johnnie tailgaters.

They are just thinking of the students health up in Minnesota.  I saw an article earlier today where some genious did a study and found that kids in coed dorms, surprisingly, drank more alcohol and had more sex than kids in same sex dorms.  Stunning news.   ;D ;D ;D

Walston Hoover

I honestly don't think as of Friday night that there was any chance in his mind that Saturday was his last game at Cornell.
He was at the Dome decked out in bright purple and talking with our coaches about what kids he should go after from Central Iowa this offseason.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

no talk here about Dillon resigning?

Link???
http://gazetteonline.com/blogs/diamonds-and-ice/2009/11/17/dillon-resigns-as-cornell-football-coach

Hmm, I guess I didn't scan the gazette thoroughly enough!!!

Simpson and Luther had similar announcements two years ago.  UD was the only school that put out a release basically saying they canned their coach.

So, did Dillon resign or was he told it might be a good idea to leave now and the school put out a nice release saying he resigned???

Will Cornell give the new coach adequate resources to do the job properly in Mt. Vernon???

Will we see a staff with Walston Hoover as the OC and his DC at Augsburg brother moving south to be the DC on the Hilltop???

Will there be any other coaching changes in the IIAC.  Will this start of round of musical chairs???
