Don't get me started on the Dutch and political correctness.  They have had their share of identity crises.  For a while they were The Flying Dutchmen and used a sailing ship as a logo.  Then someone decided that the ledgendary Flying Dutchman had been a slave ship.  So it was hurtful to use that imagry.  Then they were just the plain old Dutchmen, but that was sexist.  So now, The Dutch.  And BTW, Go Dutch!

Good luck to Coe and Central tomorrow. Do the IIAC proud and both advance. I hope everyone stays injury free tomorrow. I'll be keeping tabs on both games as much as possible tomorrow. No hard feelings to the Johnnies. I missed the intellectual banter of 2007 but I'll accept the same outcome. Good wishes to the UMHB fans, you have true Southern manners, something no one has accused me of!

And best wishes to Mom too AZ, hope she's up and around post haste.

Went to go see Mom. She's doing better than she has in a long time. 79 years young. She asked me what time the game is tomorrow?

I said with out hesitation and with out an emotion on my face....

What game? ;)

Glad you have a positive update. Keep  her well....well away from the internet/radio. :)

Congrats to Boyle and Staker on POY and COY. Now, prove that you deserve it -- beat the Johnnies.

Let's go, Dutch! Everyone thinks Central got the toughest first round draw... Prove they we're legit this season. Take care of business at home!

I actually like "The Cru" better than the Crusaders.  I'm not generally into PC language, but there are some images I think better left alone, and killing in the name of religious zealotry is one of them.  Sorry to hear about Central's mascot's journey but at least you settled on the Dutch.  McMurry went from being the Indians to being McMurry sports teams.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

And my congrats to the Staker and Boyle for COY and MVP. Well deserved and earned.

Anyone witness The Cru in action this afternoon while working out?
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

Have you seen this from the "What We're Reading" feature on the front page of d3football.com. From tdtnews.com, UMHB DB/running back Bryson Tucker was recruited out of his Texas HS by Central.

Sigh.  Not the place for this discussion and I don't intend to pursue it, but let it be known that there are a hundred and one ways that calling the Crusades something as simple as "killing in the name of religious zealotry" is wrong both factually and rhetorically.  Not going to argue it, just posting notice that the claim will not go without challenge.  I promise not to mention it again and potentially drive the IIAC board so far off topic.

On topic, with so many Johnnies returning healthy, including our QB who is finally able to toss a pass further than 10 yards down field, I reckon we're looking at a 35-14 Johnnie victory.  But it is a lovely drive up to 56321.

The shortening of the name to "The Dutch" evokes the something like "The Irish".  Of course that's a shortening from The Fighting Irish...probably related to the age-old Irish affinity for getting pissed and having a houlie.  As to the Dutch I associate that with Gouda, Clogs, Windmills, Tulips and building cities below sea level...although recently (though not in Pella) they seem known for liberal policies toward drugs, prostitution, homosexuality, euthanasia and abortion.   ;D

The Cru...it's rather meaningless and intentionally evasive; and only slightly better than the University of Mary Hardin Baylor Bubble-headed Ninnymuggins.   ::)

Good luck and no injuries to all teams in the playoffs.

Better luck to Central and the 'Hacks.

Does Purple Heys have any inside knowledge of Cornell joining the Ivy League of the Midwest with Coe, Luther and other "academic" schools???

That sounds like a "I've been sworn to secrecy" reply ;)

Do I detect a touch of sarcasm from a UD grad? Just maybe if Dubuque were to be run by graduates from Luther, Coe and Cornell, they could figure out how to keep the strip joints open!
