There needs to be a meeting of the minds to find a way to keep those clubs open.  ED without dancing establishments just doesn't seem right.  If Coe, Cornell and Luther think tanks could figure this problem out then I am all for it.

Think of it another way.  KCRG is likely to tell sportsknight he isn't getting a raise this year, because they figure the money he will save by not frequenting those establishments will be roughly equal to the raise he would have received :o

Seriously though, some of my old UD friends will be going through a deep mourning process at the loss of these places.  It's a sad day for the tri-states :D

Sigh.  Not the place for this discussion and I don't intend to pursue it, but let it be known that there are a hundred and one ways that calling the Crusades something as simple as "killing in the name of religious zealotry" is wrong both factually and rhetorically.  Not going to argue it, just posting notice that the claim will not go without challenge.  I promise not to mention it again and potentially drive the IIAC board so far off topic.

On topic, with so many Johnnies returning healthy, including our QB who is finally able to toss a pass further than 10 yards down field, I reckon we're looking at a 35-14 Johnnie victory.  But it is a lovely drive up to 56321.
I don't disagree.  I was talking about images evoked by the name.  images that I've had others fling in my direction for almost 20 years when talking about UMHB.  Right or wrong the images persist and I'd prefer they not be attached to the school I love.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

GREAT HIRE!!!
I'd like to say "I told you so" all along but they threw me for a loop by not having him in their list of finalists ???
Coe saves themselves some money by promoting from within.

You were right Walston.
COY after two seasons.
I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

BTW Brondyke isn't listed on the 2 deep for central.
Sorry, he is on the 2 deep as the punter

Yes and he can make a big difference in the game with the leg, probably pin you inside the 20 more than once and could likely get another 70 yarder off as he did vs Luther this year.  And when we need him, he does catch balls well.  However I think the big TEs may be a difference maker as they were vs the Wartburg.

What makes UMHB able to defend the pass and run is the LB speed.  BoBo is spot on with that, but UMHb also has good DBs, one of whom has spent most of the year covering whoever the best receiver is on the other side. Brett Parker (#14) is #1 in the conference in passes defended (16 in 8 games) and in interceptions (5 in 8 games.  He also broke the school record for INTs in a career this season)  Having him in the defensive backfield lets the LBs do their speed thing.

Here's a link to conference stats if you want to look at things: http://bit.ly/2q5CzT
So it looks like 5'11" Parker gets to cover 6'2" Snead unless they can switch it around so that he as to cover 6'4" Brondyke or 6'5" Leuschen.  I never played defensive back, but it seems like it would be the top couple of inches of receivers that would give a defender the trouble.

I'll pick up a little smack talking slack for DutchHawk here:  LB speed doesn't bother Rhinos.  Central runs right at ya, the big guys are fully capable of taking LB's down so Zachery can just step over them.  Dutch 28, Cru 21.

I'd definitely show up in green for that match-up.  Without even thinking about it.

Good luck and no injuries to all teams in the playoffs.

Better luck to Central and the 'Hacks.

Fog in the early morning near La Porte City.  I can't see across the road right now.  Safe travels everyone.

Anyone witness The Cru in action this afternoon while working out?
Rode by after work and it was business as usual, Central practicing with precision focus.  The Purple Crush must have gone back to Des Moines to get a headstart on their beauty sleep.   ;)

Let's see, the Cru left in the rain yesterday and chose not to stay in Pella, not that I blame them.  This morning the weather is pea soup fog.  Maybe these are signs???  At least the fog should not slow them down too much in getting here as it is divided highway all the way between Pella and Des Moines.  At least one thing will go their way.   ;)

Good morning all!  dense fog advisory for half the state today, but should not repeat the Bears/Eagles fog bowl game.  pridicted to lift and be a sunny 56 degrees SE winds 10-15.  Great day for FB.  Looking forward to excellent game in Pella.  Good luck to all and may referees and injuries not have a hand in the outcome!

GO DUTCH by all the picks going against you from outside this board, I'd say you have something to prove for all the Iowa Conference!

Fog is lifting.  Nice and sunny here in La Porte City.  Visability probably 3/4 of a mile here.  Feels warm out, but I have a lot of winter fat on already!!!

Looking forward to some football!!!

Disappointing loss last night 13-3. Game should have ended 6-3. In other words it was a total defensive battle.
