I'm so proud of my Kohawks today, I wish I could have been up there to watch the game, but luckily I had a friend that kept me up-to-date while I was down in Iowa City for the Hawkeye game.  I stood by and read all the posts from the arrogant pr*cks from St Johns on how great they were and how they were going to dominate Coe while they were looking into the 2nd round, but now I can say that they all under estimated how good Coe is and how good our defense is.  Like I said...very proud of my Kohakws today!!  Way to kick St Johns in their little jonnies today!

I hate to rub it in, but it feels so damn good too  ;D ;D  Have a great turkey day weekend knowing that the season is over for your team and we're moving on to the 2nd round

Congratulations to Coe and UMHB on great wins today.  I knew Coe could do it and I really hoped Central could.  UMHB did a good job of shutting down our run and we weren't able to stop theirs.  At the same time, I could not be prouder of how the Dutch hung in there today.  We could have packed things in when we got down, but we kept coming back.  Snead today made it look like passing could be our offense of choice.  What a great game he played.  It would have taken a miracle for Central to score with no time outs left even if we did recover the onside kick.  We needed to kick it up a notch in the 2nd and third and it would not have come down to who got the onside kick.

I think it is safe to say that the IIAC took a major step forward with today's games even though the Dutch lost.  I really believed that Coe could win today and they went up to SJU and did so.  The Dutch gave UMHB everything they had and more than UMHB wanted in this game.  I think they will know we play some great football in Iowa.    Would love to see Coe and UMHB go at it in two weeks.  I think it would be another great match up.  Good luck to both of you next week.

Dutch, you had a fantastic year and you left it all on the field today.  We have a lot of talent coming back and a great JV team to draw from.  Shoot me down now, DF1, but I  believe Central will be back in the playoffs next year.   The IIAC showed we deserved two teams in the playoffs this year.   That will help next year.

Really?  You just stood by?  :-X  You need to sack up before the game and support your team not run it after.  The Johnnie Nation can be annoying when they invade, but at least they put it out there before the game.  I'm just sayin'...   :)

I am glad that the 'hacks won.  The way it played out is the way I expected (and posted).  Good luck to them next week.  I think they can take out the Tommies too.

The defensive end for Coe, Frank Weymiller, is an f'ing animal.  What kind of cage is he kept in during the week?  And only a freshman?  Wow.  Joe Boyle was under pressure all day and the Johnnies really self-destructed after he took the big hit to his back.  The Kohawks were a lot faster on defense than I expected.

Great post.
It was the miracle that we were all looking for. I think all games can come with the should of, could of and would of's. I myself was going bananas watching this game. I think the neighbors were wondering what the heck was going on?
I did hear quite a bit of boooos in the back ground after that call?? :o

(side note: I promise, Mom didn't see this game.)

The Central/UMHB game sounds like a heart-stopper. We were hoping to win our game and get a rematch with Central, but it looks as if we'll get a rematch with UMHB instead. I thought the Dutch would take them, but they were a really tough draw for the first round. Too bad you couldn't have played the johns instead.

Congratulations to Coe on your win. It's always harder to do on the road.

You weren't hearing it right.  It was NOOOOOOOOOOO!  Kind of like SportsKnights reaction to the end of the strip bars in East Dubuque.   ;)

You know in my heart, even down 35-14, I still believed we would come back.  And the way the O was playing at that time, particularly Snead, I don't know that we couldn't have gotten a miracle.  But just as Linfield moaned and groaned over the Miracle in the Mud loss to Central years ago.  If we had taken care of business better earlier, it wouldn't have come down to that.   And you don't read "Mishap in the Mud" you google "Miracle in the mud" and watch it.   Central and Linfield battled to OT in the playoffs at the Catdome.  Linfield scored a FG in their OT attempt with the ball.  Central was stopped and had to go with a FG attempt to tie.  But in the mud, the kick never got off the ground.  Hit, then lineman, Reid Evans in the backside.  He turned around and picked the ball up while Linfield fans and players flooded the field after the apparent win.  Meanwhile, Evans hands the ball off to Central running back, Joe Ritzert who runs through the fans and players flooding the field to score the game winning TD.  Thus the start of the Linfield battle cry "LEAVE NO DOUBT" and Central's mantra, play until the whistle blows.

Congrats to the KoHawks, sounded like quite the game.  Best of luck on the rest of your season.  How bad was your quarterback Boyle hurt?

I thought Central's play selection was a bit baffling for the 2 point conversion.

I figured they would spread it out again, but instead it looked like they loaded up to go to the right side.  It appeared that they limited the play to only one side of the field rather than giving Snead the whole field to create if the coverage was there.

Of course the video was dropping frames so I couldn't exactly see...

Oh, it was there! A naked boot and a wide open reciever in the end zone. Just a great defensive play by the pass rusher/guy that was supposed to be covering the wide open reciever.  That was the heartbreaker/ball game right there.

I'm also pretty sure the off sides was called on the kicker, which I have never seen before. Not sure of the college rules but on Sundays, there isn't a problem with the kickers plant foot being in front of the ball.

Great job by Coe and Central today against two top notch opponents. Provided me with another great weekend of football. I couldn't have been any more excited if my own kid was playing in one of those games.

Hats off to an impressive Central team. The height of your WRs and athletic QB gave us problems on d. Im glad we were able to hang on. Cant let up in the playoffs. Hopefully we will meet again...

Way to go Kohawks, I knew you could do it.  Way to represent the conference.  Congrats to the Dutch on a good season.  Not a good way to finish with a loss but way to compete till the end.

I want to highlight this as an example of how NOT to be gracious in winning. It's also easy to call other people names. Is it as easy to look in the mirror? The Johnnies played a very untypical game for them. Yeah, I know you'll say that's because the Coohawks are so great. The Johnnies never played anyone like them ever before in all the years they have been playing football. Crawl back into your hole now, because I didn't see you before the game, so that must be where you were.

To all other Cohawk fans, Good Luck the rest of the way. I just hope you don't have one of those days, like when your QB is puking on the sidelines, your #1 running back is out and your best defensive player is just a shell of his pre injury self.

The play was there, Leuschen was open, but the MHB Defender got his paw up in the right place.  This game deserved an OT, but I'd have to admit the better team prevailed on this day.  Several of us commented about how they resemble UWW in size and strength, definitely have the speed covered.
