If a player thinks he needs to go where there are not a lot of players at his position so he has a chance to play, maybe he isn't as good as he thinks he is. The best players play regardless of age. It doesn't matter if there are 3 or 13 competing for a spot, the best will play and the others won't.
So why take down the roster right away?  You just contradicted yourself.

Great Ceasar's ghost! I give up.

Football season isn't even over yet, and already Wartburg's roster has been removed from its Web site. I find this curious since rosters for other fall sports remain. Regardless, I took the liberty of downloading the roster before it was removed. Any football recruits wondering where they might stack up on the Knight roster can look here:

We could go back to talking about financial aid offers or bond ratings.   ;D

Yeah, let's see...
Central has a weird "cult thing" going on that creeps some people out.
Wartburg does fishy things with their finantial aid to lure athletes,
Coe just smells funny.
Cornell will never be competitive in the IIAC.
For some reason, despite normally being competitive most seasons, BV and Luther have not won football titles since 1978.
Back in the day, UD had some cocky football players that ran their mouths, but gave up once they started losing.
Simpson really has some sucky artificial turf that isn't as nice as the other schools in the conference.
Loras...crickets...

Yeah, that's usually our off season topics around here ;D ;D ;D

Our computer just came back from two weeks in the computer hospital.  No more going up to the public library to do important things like check email and see what is happening on the D3.football site.  A lot of pages have gone by here in the past few days.
Reality is for those who lack imagination 😀

There seems to be plenty of room on the Coe bandwagon.  Maybe I will hitch a ride.  Specially since it is so much fun to beat Minnesotans.

Now that does not really help Central SOS come non-seeding time to decide who you draw in the playoffs, does it?

With respect to Wartburg Roster-gate...would I really want a ballplayer who was scared off by reading a roster in the first place?

That depends on the player.  Taylor Edwards left WHITEWATER because he was too deep on the depth chart and transferred to River Falls.  He rushed for 1116 yards this season and was selected to the all conference team.  Garrett Medenwald transferred to Stevens Point for the same reason and he rushed for 659 yards despite playing on a team which primarily passed the ball.   Justin Spaulding transferred to Dubuque, again because he was too deep on our depth chart, rushed for 944 yards and was first team IIAC.

There are alot of reasons a player selects a program and/or transfers from another and they don't necessarily mean that he isn't a competitive or skilled player.

Yeah, but what you are talking about is a player finding out he is buried on the depth chart after he is at school.  With little chance of ever working his way up to 1st team.  Which is different than a high school kid looking at a roster and figuring he better not go there because there are a bunch of running backs on the roster.

That said, Dubuque is happy Mr. Spaulding transferred to UD ;)

Wasn't commenting about skill...was commenting about "want to".  I'll take my chances with the players that want to be in my program.

Maybe Wartburg is just getting smart and wants to dispel the recruiting rumor "be careful with Wartburg, they'll bring 90 freshmen in every year and many never get a fair look"  Hell even D1 players often want to play as freshman and worry about what upper classmen are ahead of them. Besides who'd want to go through 4 years of their life wearing "black and orange"   Even Purple would be better than "Black and Orange" For G--'s Sake   :)

By the way congrats to JR.

Of course this opens up an entirely different issue on player hoarding.

Is Wartburg's Roster-gate a player hoarding ploy?  Is UW-W's purported practice of grey-shirting, a thinly veiled player hoarding technique?

Are we ready to open this can o' worms again?   ???

You are a genius - you've been wasted on this whole spa thing.  Oh course, why didn't I think of that, the Black Knights have an off year and immediately their up to their recruiting tricks.  :-\

First, thanks...we are very proud out here.  I find myself sympathizing with your take on young Mr. Wolfe.  We felt somewhat slighted last year...but you can see that there is a bias against teams with the losing record.  There are lot of good players in the IIAC

I also think there would have been a chance that the 4 players that got All-IIAC nods might not have gotten as much IF we had lost to Loras and finished 0-8 in the conference again.  Jr. and/or Bladt might have been bumped down to 2nd team, and/or,  King and/or Zasada may not have gotten the HM nods.  I think Cornell picked up a tiny bit of momentum for those guys when we won.
