There isn't much talk about this upcoming game. I see Calvin and Tate will represent Coe this Saturday. The roster isn't too friendly on the eyes with the messed up text but I did see a couple of Dubuque players on there. Is anyone else from the IIAC playing?

Kind of suprised Tate will be able to go, I've heard that he too wasn't 100% last weekend.

All these games are pay to play, directly or indirectly.    :(

I hope that the Kohack guys are able to go...but these things aren't free.  According to the invite letter Jr. got from the D3 Classic folks, you have to pay for your transportation to the game in Virginia, pay for your lodging and meals (except banquet), AND, purchase a page in the game program.

The total package cost we figured out to be around $1200 give or take.   :o

Cornell advised us that NCAA rules (Extra Benefits rules) do not permit the school to provide money for this.  Players may raise their own funding from wherever they can, but that is separate from the college.  There also may be NCAA ramifications when receiving donated $$ should the student-athlete play other sports...according to the advisory from the NCAA.

We know that the AFCA did pay for the athletes to go to the Aztec Bowl in 2007 and before...but the AFCA pulled its support and the 2009 game is pay to play.  Don't ask me why the NCAA would allow an Extra Benefit from this outside interest group but none other...  ???

It's too bad really, since the players go representing their respective schools and the schools draw a certain amount of recognition benefit from that.

Just another way the D3 kids are truly in it for the love of the game and, regardless of what games these boys go to, they should be honored to be asked and cheered for participating.   :)

I"ve known Tate for along time and its doesn't surpirse me at all that he would not go even if he isn't 100%. He just doesnt' know the word quit.

I'm guessing Purpla Heys couldn't break 120 on a pitch and putt course. I suggest you do some research and find out what some hockey, baseball, and football players say about golf. But then again, I'm not sure you can read, or comprehend what you read.

Cover up that raw nerve dude...    ;D

I'm sorry, even though I'm on the wrong end of that barb, I can't help but +k you for the perfect retort.

He goes to Coe - there are probably LOTS of words he doesn't know. :o

(Sorry, but if you're gonna lob such a softball, I haven't got the self-discipline to resist! :-[)

It is interesting that the very first "confirmed" player listed on the North roster is an offensive guard from Linfield.  I have a hunch he may have a more important game on Saturday.

D3 makes for some crazy geography, and Millsaps has players on both teams.

Which is why an East/West format may have been better?

I had to go back and edit that post, as I'd posted my response in the middle of it.

An East/West format may have been better. It would start pretty far East, but would probably be more easily divided.

It is funny to see Millenbach listed as "confirmed." Yeah, don't think he'll be there, but it's a nice honor for him.

I really hope that these games come together at least to a point where they provide a satisfactory experience for these guys...not like Wildcat11's ordeal.

Jr. accepted the invite to the Tazon de Estrellas game because it represented a goal he set for himself when he was a freshman which was to play in the Aztec Bowl his Senior year.  He worked out missing the last week of class with his professor...a Spanish Class, conveniently enough, by agreeing to write a report of his experiences in Mexico City and playing American Football in a foreign country.  The whole itinerary is well done with a tour of Mexico City and the Teotihuacan Pyramids.  Plus the coaches associated with the event represent a great cross-section of D3 Football.  The whole experience sounds like a great opportunity.

AZDutch, whats dangerous is how attractive that Oregon cheerleader is. She was CNNSI's cheerleader of the week. Check out the gallery. All I can say is wow. Central never had cheerleaders that hot when I was there.

I didn't even go to Central, but I must rush to dutchfan1's honor.  Central has always had cheerleaders hotter than the Oregon cheerleader to which you are referring and dutchfan1 was one of them!

Maybe Staker and Ferentz can fly down together, and share a room, cab it over to the dinner together?

I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!
