I'll jump in here a little late.  It's one thing to speculate if a D3 HC would jump ship if an App St. or similar program offered him their head job.  That isn't likely to happen in the real world.  If a coach wants to move up the ranks you would see a D3 HC move up to D2, prove himself at D2 and then get a shot at FCS.  Success at the FCS level and then move up to D1.  For that to happen that D3 coach would have to start young and make those jumps in a pretty quick fashion.  More likely though is someone that started out as an assistant at a D2 or higher level.  Proved themselves as a coordinator at that higher level and then moved up to HC at those higher levels.

If a coach has already spent 15 plus years at the D3 level, he could move up to D2 but at that point I would doubt he is on too many D1 schools radar.  And, unless you are at a big time D2 program like Grand Valley or Northwest Missouri, the pay isn't much greater or not greater at all.  Most NSIC schools pay their Head Coaches in about the same ballpark as IIAC schools.  I think for that reason you find coaches that if they don't move up the food chain in a hurry they find a comfort level in D3.

Cornell President Resigns ...

... Willis Applies!!! :-*

Nice one  ;D

Now, think of the tizzy this board would go into if Cornell brought Jack Ohle back to our state as President...and then brought Willis in as head football coach :D

Thanks for making me choke on my Pepsi!  A few good chuckles on the board today.

After Willis moves to Mount Vernon, he has a new roof in need of shingling, let's see, who at WB is available to help over the summer.   :o

Let's get the facts right it was Coach Koehler who was building the new house that needed shingling.   :) :) :)

Also - If JackO is president, he probably would hire  former Wartburg AD Gary Grace as AD who would hire Willis again. Sorry Johnny Cochran, but once JackO get's rolling you can't stop him. ;D ;D ;D

For Cornell's sake I hope they say away, far away from JackO.
Aaron Kampman on Coach Ed Thomas
I believe his greatest legacy comes not in how many football games he won or lost but in the fact that he was a committed follower of Jesus Christ.

Off topic, but Mark Becker was just found guilty of murder in the first degree in the shooting death of Aplington-Parkersburg football Coach Ed Thomas.

Sad news comes to my sons school.

Senior Robby Mayasich, from Brophy College Prep, passed away today from an accident during a charity relay race held Friday night. Robby was hit by a car during this race. I´m asking for Prayers for Robby´s family, friends, classmates and the person driving the car.

Sad story, our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends as well as the driver.  Stories like this make one appreciate the time we do have with our loved ones.

Will any of you be at the NCAA D3 Wrestling Tournament on Friday and Saturday?  I'm of the opinion that this could be the year a team other than Augsburg or Wartburg takes away the championship hardware.  I hope not, but it seems other teams are a little closer this year.

The folks at Coe certainly think so. If they somehow manage to take the title this year, I'm crashing the celebration party.

AZ Dutchmen, what  a tragedy, prayers for all the families involved.  How terrible.

AZDutchman

I would like to thank you for your Prayers!
Robby will be laid to rest this week end. Robby´s parents wanted to continue in his giving way and have decided to donate his organs.
He will be able to give life and continue to touch many for days to come!

I can only hope the family of this young man completely understands the tremendous gift they are giving those individuals who will receive the life saving organs.  It won't dull the pain, but there can be some satisfaction that the gift will keep some other family from experiencing such a tragic loss.  I hope we are all carrying universal donor cards.

Don't forget the option of being a cadaver donor.  Little Warthog will testify to the value of learning on a real body as opposed the practicing on a dummy or reading a book.  I figure students at the University of Iowa or Wartburg can make good use of me after I'm gone.  I've had so many medical abnormalities I could be the World Book Encyclopedia of corpses.

My question has to do with the purpose of running along a highway at night.  Was there a pace car with flashing lights following the runners so they could be easily spotted?

CaliRamRL6:

You have a good idea.  I think I'll toss a red sweater and yellow shirt in my car Saturday morning.  If Coe wins I'll crash the party with you.  Perhaps we should have a signal like the cons in The Sting had.  We could give a little flick of the nose so we can identify the other interlopers at the party.

On the other hand, if Wartburg wins again you won't have to crash the party.  Just show up and you can join the fun.  The more the merrier.
