I have a question for the NCAA. I do not know if you feel as strongly about this as I do, but I am little angered by it. Spring football is starting up here in the IIAC and well spring football has already started in every other division of college football. Why is that Division 1, 2, and the NAIA are allowed to have a full month of full-pad practices for spring football but when it comes to D3 football they are only allowed to have 8 practices with just jerseys if that. Not full pads, not half shell, not even just helmets....just jerseys. What is so different about division 3 football, NAIA has the same privileges as all the other divisions and they are basically D3 football......I dont know but I think the spring football thing needs to be revised for D3 football

in late May...keep your calendar open, there may be a party or 2 in the metropolitan Mount Vernon area.    :D

I may have to crash it under the guise of a recruiting visit.
I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

You'll probably have to crash...I suspect the Heys family won't have their Graduation Party at the Dancers Ranch ;D

A thank you goes out to DBQ1965 for putting together the Tourney Challenge for our group.  Though sadly, I now have to endure taunts from my wife after she won the darn thing.  Once again, my failure to pick the eventual champion cost me dearly :'(

Was that an NCAA or an NAIA national football title the Dutch won in 1974?  I was thinking we were still NAIA in those days.
NCAA - only 4 teams got in and the other 3 got their invite a full day before Central.  They didn't want to let a wimpy school like us in, but they couldn't keep us out with our undefeated record, which must have been rare at that time.

After reading the article I gave notice to the semi-final score of 17-16. Close scores must have been a tradition for years at Central.
I also gave notice to the player in the background of the picture. Either those are the 1974 version of sports glasses or that player was keeping those together with first aid tape for years?
;D :o ::)
Actually, we won most of our games pretty easily that year, with 5 shutouts in the regular season, but it was real clear they really didn't think little Central College could compete with the big boys.  We almost didn't get into the playoffs at all, and we were the clear underdog in the whopping two games that it took to win the championship back then.

Congrats to Mrs. Doolittle for winning the IIAC group entry in ESPN's Tournament Challenge.  She was one of only two people who picked Duke to win it all ... with TheOne89.1 finishing a close second.

Now we can sit back and wait for September 4 as IIAC teams kick-off the real season.

Go Spartans!
Reality is for those who lack imagination 😀

Division III gets 15 practices, actually. But no pads.

This is Division III -- we want kids studying and such as well.

Colton Hansen from UD played in the All-American Bowl in Charleston recently.

Colton went 3-5-137 with TD passes of 51 and 78 yards and was named the top QB of the game.

Congrats to Colton!!!

Geez where have I been? Not paying attention to sports really, that's where. WHat's going on everybody? Reader's digest version of the last 4 months?

About the same.

Central = good

Wartburg = Bad

How do I say this in a politically correct way?  I can't think of a way other than to say nothing racist intended by this old school comment...

Central's colors are red and WHITE, Wartburg's are orange and BLACK.  Some things were just destined to be...

Actually NAIA football is not just like d3 football. As D3 doesn't give athletic scholarships. Which NAIA does.

I think the set up is fine with me.  Kids getting a mental reps and fine tune issues or tweaks in the system.  Heck, Saint John's doesn't hit even during the season and they seem to do fine year in and year out.  :)
