Anyone else think a crappy winter is being followed by a crappy spring here in Iowa?  We have now had 3 consecutive days that it has hailed in and around Pella.  Thankfully, I didn't have any damage, but some of the people I work with have had windows blown out of their homes and other damage from the winds.  At least we have it better than Grinnell.  Did anyone else see the pictures of the Grinnell College students that were caught outside in their hail storm yesterday?  Wow, those were welts!

Ouch!

I know you can't predict everything, but wouldn't you have checked radar for storms before going out on a day like that?

What does this say about knowing enough to come in out of the rain? And from an allegedly "smart" school.
NKD: "We need a f**king touchdown, excuse my French"
FBD: "I didn't know touchdown was French."

I'm visiting Storm Lake this weekend, hopefully no hail!  Driving in from Omaha.  any idea how the weather is going to be?  I keep getting mixed readings on the internet.

About a month or so ago there were two Grinnell students filming themselves jumping on and off a moving train...until one of them fell off and nearly had a leg cut off.  It goes back to what my wife says.  "you can be book smart, but that doesn't mean you have a lick of common sense"

Snoop, as far as our weather is concerned, who knows.  Last week we had 80 degrees one day and the next day is was 40 and raining.  The saying goes around here...especially in the spring..."if you don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes, it's sure to change"

I was about to get into bragging about the weather here, but then I seen that newscast. Wow, that is awful. The welts on those runners are incredible. Hopefully the weather straightens itself out in Iowa.  :-\

I have a question for the NCAA. I do not know if you feel as strongly about this as I do, but I am little angered by it. Spring football is starting up here in the IIAC and well spring football has already started in every other division of college football. Why is that Division 1, 2, and the NAIA are allowed to have a full month of full-pad practices for spring football but when it comes to D3 football they are only allowed to have 8 practices with just jerseys if that. Not full pads, not half shell, not even just helmets....just jerseys. What is so different about division 3 football, NAIA has the same privileges as all the other divisions and they are basically D3 football......I dont know but I think the spring football thing needs to be revised for D3 football

My opinion on the NCAA rules...there are many interpretations of the rules and regulations. I believe the coaches across the nation will try to take advantage of any of these rules by tweaking them and still staying within the guidelines. For example, I have heard of coaches using a rolled up taped towel instead of a football? What rule this applies to, I do not know? When to use helmets and not pads; jerseys and not pads; pads and helmets. Who is really keeping track of this?
What would be the punishment if they did get caught? Does anyone know?

OK thanks...I'm bringing my umbrella, hard hat and galoshes.  Hope I can find a good bar to watch Tiger win the Masters.

Generally you could expect the NCAA to dock you one regular-season practice for every illegal offseason one. Ohio Northern lost postseason eligibility for a season a few years ago (NCAA sanction) and the coach got fired (school).

in late May...keep your calendar open, there may be a party or 2 in the metropolitan Mount Vernon area.    :D

I may have to crash it under the guise of a recruiting visit.

You'll probably have to crash...I suspect the Heys family won't have their Graduation Party at the Dancers Ranch ;D

...And Double-D would be correct!   :o

Isn't it great that after the season is over and there has been a big win along the way that it all can be topped with graduation?

IIAC Forever!

One of the great things about D3 is that we are talking about a real graduation as opposed to.............He was a fifth year red-shirt senior who has used up all his eligibility.

As a former D3'er, I was in school to play football, amongst many other things. I know of some D3 schools where a small % of kids even go to offseason workouts.
I don't like that they allow spring ball now. If these guys wanted to be fulltime football players they would go NAIA or get a $300 scholarship at a D2. It makes sense at D1 where they are getting 25-30k/year to play, but not when guys are paying that much.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

By the Way, is it true what I heard about the Central golf programs?
