All my students are taking AP exams today so I am left in my classroom day-dreaming about college football. . . here is today's question?

What bowl game will the Cincinnati Bearcats and the Spurrier family be attending this year?

We have already been to the Orange and the Sugar. . .where in the world will the Spurrier family spend the holidays this year?

Warthog,

Just a note to pre-empt your lame attempt at humor. . .we will not be spending the holidays at the "toilet bowl"

2 years and 2 BCS games.  Might as well keep aiming high or those lesser bowls will seem like a let down.

Aim for the Fiesta this year, followed by the Rose the next.  And then for his redshirt senior season cap off his collegiate career with a trip to the BCS championship game.

A BCS championship game would almost be as nice as scoring a TD against Loras your senior year ;)

Realizing this is a FB board.......others post a variety of comments....so

Following the NCAA Softball Regionals, I am increasingly impressed with Coe's team of last year.  It takes great stamina to rise to the national runner-up.  Luther  and Simpson are still in it.  Central fell on tough times with U of Chicago

Alfredeneumann

IIAC Teams @ D3 National Golf meets.

Central men and Wartburg women top 20 finishes. Central Tie 17th, Wartburg 12th.

I believe his greatest legacy comes not in how many football games he won or lost but in the fact that he was a committed follower of Jesus Christ.

Spurrier, I forgot that your son was a UC Bearcat.....did you hear their radio ad campaign last season? (I get really tired of Ohio State, so these spots really amused me. :)

Thats classic df1, When (if) ISU turns things around and goes up over the Hawks in rankings, I wonder how many smashed radios and road rage incidents would be generated by the Cyclone Radio Network adopting such a campaign???

Speaking of old...My daughter asked me if she could take my old trumpet to school today to show during music class.  While showing her the trumpet I found in the case a sheet of paper that had my Pep Band schedule - Fall, 1989 on it ::)

Apparently we practiced at Westminster church tuesdays at 4pm and then met at Chalmers at 12:30 for the 1pm start to the games.

UD home games for 1989 were...
Sept  9th  Iowa Wesleyan 22-19 win
Sept 16th Loras 7-10 loss
Sept 30th Simpson 32-63 loss...ouch
Oct.  21st  Wartburg...Homecoming AND a 32-15 win!!!
Nov.   1st  Central 14-52...Central were conference champs that year

A 2-3 home schedule that year, 4-6 overall, and 3-5 in conference play

+k...Pep loves this! What's also great is AU Pep Band, albeit with short random stints prior to Pep's involvement, has been active since fall 1999 and some pep band alumni will return for Alfred's Reunion next month!

The AU band, other than a pre-season "band camp," does not hold rehearsals; at home, the band gathers 90 minutes prior to kickoff and warms up with the tailgaters. The band logged 1830 miles in playing at four road games in 2009.
On Saxon Warriors! On to Victory!
...Fight, fight for Alfred, A-L-F, R-E-D!

It is important to note that this is the FIRST year since the creation of the All-Sports Trophy that UD finished higher then LAST.

The Spartans moved to 7th place and finished above Cornell and Buena Vista in the standings! It is nice to see improvement in many athletic teams and not just 1 or 2.

footballkid's knee surgery went well but his playing days are over. We all have mixed emotions but realize this is best since he will need his knee much longer that his football career.
NKD: "We need a f**king touchdown, excuse my French"
FBD: "I didn't know touchdown was French."

Sad to hear that his playing days are over.  Fortunately, he will have some great memories of his days on the field and lasting friendships that will carry on for decades from his time in school.

I do not know Mr. Yin or his family, but I having a child that age I cannot imagine the pain his family and team family are suffering.
