Old Dutch

I know we had Curtis Brondyke and Kyle Wood on the Dutch roster last year.  I see Brondyke is leading the Decathlon.

And I'll throw in a congrats to the Luther SB team as well, great season.

Klompen

With 3 events left, Brondyke is still leading the decathalon by a narrow 10 point margin.  Central's Ethan Miller is in 3rd.  Good luck, Dutch!

DBQ1965

If I've got it straight, finals of the Decathalon saw Krondyke of Central finishing 5th, Wohrley of Cornell finishing 6th, and Miller of Central finishing 8th.  Good work for the IIAC ... with some still alive for tomorrow's finals in both track and field events.

I think this is all fairly accurate from the D3 T and F nationals.  Overall in the men's competition, Central finished tied for 15th, Cornell tied for 65th, UD tied for 71st, and Wartburg tied for 77th.

Event places include:

Decathalon:  Kurtis Brondyke, 5th, Central; James Wohrley, 6th, Cornell; and Ethan Miller, 8th, Central.

4x100 relay, Central, 6th.

4x400 relay, Centrall, 8th.

110 hurdles, Russell Harris, 8th, Wartburg.

Long Jump, Ethan Miller, 4th, Central

Shot Put, Matt Graber, Central

100, Davivorn Dowe, UD, 8th

200, Davivorn Dowe, UD, 8th.

Apparently Dowe was running injured as he ran 12.4 in the 100, 2 seconds behind everyone else and 61.08 in the 200, 21 seconds behind everyone else.  Maybe the Telegraph-Herald will have info in tomorrow's paper.

Still, kudos to the IIAC ... and especially to the Central Dutch ...  for a good showing all around.

That should have been 41 seconds behind everyone else for Dowe in the 200.

On the women's side, there were too many participants in too many events for me to list here.  Suffice it to say the Wartburg women finished 4th nationally.

Hey ...

What's going on?  Four straight posts and nothing else from anyone.  Maybe I need to get a life, right?  I feel like the lone-wolf out here.

Only 96 days to kick-off.

GO SPARTANS!

Heartbreaking read on Davivorn Dowe getting injured.  Loved how he stuck it out and finished the 200.  I bet you could work that into some future sermon you might find yourself giving!!!

Congrats to all the other IIAC atheletes competing at the national championships this weekend.  Especially those that are also football players ;D

Hey, you forgot to mention who won the women's title! ;D ;)

That's OK - anyone who remembers the affiliation of this occasional IIAC visitor will know that I already did! ;D

I've heard that Coe has had an extreemly good recruiting year in multiple sports.  This may be attributable to families seeing value in Coe's academics, hard work by the coaches or a temporary shut-down of Quaker Oats during last year's admissions visit weekend.

My theory is that Coe's campus expansion is reaching a final phase and that the administration is offering a little extra financial aid to student-athletes in the high visibility sports to woo additional alumni donors in the coming years.  Any thoughts?

Good luck to Coe and all of your efforts.

Hmmmm.........

Sounds like what that fiscally irresponsible school is accused of doing. Which school is next in selling their souls to the devil?
NKD: "We need a f**king touchdown, excuse my French"
FBD: "I didn't know touchdown was French."
