I believe his greatest legacy comes not in how many football games he won or lost but in the fact that he was a committed follower of Jesus Christ.

Long time no post.  Been busy with work family.  Son 2 was hooded this last Saturday and is now a DO.  Chalk one up for the Wartburg education.  He is off to KC to become an OBGYN.  #4 is going to be coaching up in Minnesota at SWMS.  Not much else new with the Dutch that I know of.

I'm trying to figure out which Central games I can get to this year and I see that the game with Augustana starts at 6:00 P.M.  I don't want to be one of those old guys who can't stand anything different from what he is used to, but I don't like it.  Nope, I don't like it one bit.  I will guess the reason for the late start is a soccer game since I see the tell tale extra lines on their football field.  Another possibility is that the Augie people are trying to bump up the hot dog sales by scheduling the game around dinner time.  The capitalist in me would almost admire them if that is the case.

Not to take anything away from this Steggall kid but what's the point of a National Letter of Intent when you're going D3?

I asked a coach why more publicity wasn't given to athletes as they make their D3 college descisions.  He said that the NCAA prohibits D3 colleges from publicizing individual matriculation notices unless the college makes a similar effort for all of it's incoming freshmen.  D1/D2/NAIA opperate under different rules.

My guess is that the family organized this since only W-SR coaches are present and the backdrop has Go-Hawk colors.  Good luck to young Mr. Steggall ... both on the athletic field and in the classroom.

Sincerely yours,

I think 5 has it right. Usually every year there are a half dozen student athletes from W-SR who sign D1 or D2 schollys and give this very talented kid some pub for going to very strong D3 teams in each sport.

This isn't true. The distinction is that a school cannot make a recruiting announcement until the incoming student has paid his or her deposit. That's why you don't see them when most kids make their decisions, but you do begin to see them in May and June.

Just Bill

Division III schools aren't part of the NLI program.  He could have signed a job application for Arby's and it would carry just as much weight.

I believe Pat is correct for Division III as a whole.  However, the Iowa Conference has a rule that prohibits any school from publicizing who they have on their incoming recruiting classes for any sport.

I don't know the specifics of IIAC rules, but it is not an NCAA rule.

Tonights rain brought with it some cool weather.  Let's just start football already!!!

IIAC schools need to do a better job of archiving game film on their websites so I can just keep watching games throughout the year.  And by IIAC schools I mean Dubuque ;D
