It's a 104 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, a half pack of cigarettes, it's dark out, and we're wearing sunglasses.

Hit it.

In honor of L'Observatore Romano calling the Blues Brothers a Catholic film.

Jake: First you traded the Cadillac in for a microphone. Then you lied to me about the band. And now you're gonna put me right back in the joint!
Elwood: They're not gonna catch us. We're on a mission from God.

Reverend Cleophus James: And now, people... And now, people... When I woke up this mornin', I heard a distubin' sound. I said When I woke up this mornin', I heard a disturbin' sound! What I heard was the jingle-jangle of a thousand lost souls! I'm talkin' 'bout the souls of mortal men and women, departed from this life. Wait a minute! Those lost angry souls roamin' unseen on the earth, seekin' to find life they'll not find, because it's too late! Tooooo late, yeah! Too late for they'll never see again the life they choose not to follow. Alright! Alright! Don't be lost when your time comes! For the day of the Lord cometh as a thief in the night!

Or maybe it was DBQ1965 during a sermon of his...I forget ;)

Even though the weather wasn't very cooperative, Mrs. Warthog and I had a nice time last night at a wedding reception.  I saw some members of the Knights 1999 undefeated IIAC championship team.  It looks like some could still play a few quarters.  I have to give them credit, they bulked down, not up.  I know Walston Hoover and Little Warthog did the same thing.  How about the rest of you O-Line, D-Line, and Linebacker types?  In a purely unscientific study it seems the grunts get smaller and the headliners get bigger after their playing days are over.

Linebacker (most of career except short stint on D-Line due to necessity). Graduated at 230, Have hovered around the 200 mark ever since. Little leaner in summer and little extra for winter warmth  ;)

Anyone heard anything about incoming recruits to camp? We are almost to July so fall camp is only about 7 weeks away!! Most of the commitments have been made unless Wartburg has a few waiting to sign their "letters of intent"  ;D

Welcome back du-sz.

As for Loras...every team in the conference has to take their turn as conference doormat.  UD had about a 15 year run.  Cornell has been looking up at the rest of the conference recently.  Now it could be Loras :P

I have to say, I drove through the Key City this weekend on my way to Wisconsin -- UD looks amazing. I can't get over the transformation that has taken place the last few years up there. From outward appearances, it looks as though UD is headed for a very bright future!

(My Loras uncle is a little jealous that their cross-town rivals have eclipsed them in a lot of ways....)  ::)

Ouch, thanks...haha.

UD is looking pretty nice these days, not going to lie.  Loras, on the other hand, can't seem to get that old-meets-new look down, they just end up with monstrosities like the AWC.

The US won their group at the World Cup, finishing ahead of England.

Next thing you know, Dubuque will be celebrating an Iowa Conference football championship this November.  I can dream ;D

I was in Wellsburg today for work.  At the house I went to they had a SUV with orange Wartburg plates.  He told me he was a Wartburg alum, but the problem with Wellsburg is everyone around there were Central Fans :o

I've been seeing a lot of Iowa license plates here in Arizona? Usually snowbirds and people stay away from here during the summer? It's been hitting the 110degree mark regularly here. Maybe you'll see a car with an Arizona plate around there soon? ;D

In the barbershop yesterday, it turned out I was sitting next to a Loras grad, Class of '67.  Even (or maybe especially) in Grand Rapids, Michigan, its a small world.

GO SPARTANS!
