I love how I can step away for a few months and its like I picked up right where I left off. I'm just glad its college football season again. We play our fourth game already this Friday.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

I miss the good old days when life was simple and you knew where you stood.

Luther and Wartburg hated each other
Dubuque and Loras hated each other
Coe and Cornell hated each other
Simpson and the Dutch hated each other
And everybody kind of come together to hate BV because they didn't have anyone to hate.

So who opened Pandora"s box?

Reading the recent posts, I was trying to figure out where things stood in the present days. Sometimes I feel like I should put on a helmet before coming on the D3 boards.... ::)

You have been notable by your absence.

My how the (high and) mighty have fallen. "Got votes" is top story in Wartburg athletics. Meanwhile, Coe strengthens its grip on 12th. Can't wait for Homecoming in Cedar Rapids.
4 IIAC football championships

13 straight wins over Cornell in the oldest football rivalry west of the Mississippi

Additional comments on the Coe game while staying out of the bashing while not making excuses.

1.) I thought Coe played a horrible 1st half, IWC should have never been that close to Coe
2.) coocoo is correct; all conference players Weber & Weymiller did not play (no excuse, merely a fact) along with another OL starter
3.) it was IWC's 2nd game and I think that was probably the only advantage they had over Coe for the game...you might take this as an excuse but IMO having started a week early is an advantage because you have already been at game speed and cleaned up some mental mistakes as Coe made a lot of them in the 1st half...regardless, Coe should have been more ready to play
4.) they have a lot of things to work on before IIAC games begin; especially with mental mistakes including turnovers and defensive breakdowns in coverage as that's where IWC were able to get their points.

That's about all I can remember from a weekend of too much drinking  ;D ;D  On a side note, it was good to seem the large amount of people that made it down to the game.

I didn't get to see Central in action Saturday.  What I gather from the stats, most significantly, the score, is that Central needs to tighten up the defense.  I also see they were penalized 6 times.  Augustana should be another good test and it would be a bad idea to get flagged 6 times on their field.

Are they going to be back soon? I wondered if they had played a down half or something, especially with the QB being intercepted 2  (3?) times. I think it makes a difference having had a game under your belt as well. Although most teams scrimmage, its still not quite the same.

I too thought it was nice to see all the Kohawk fans making the trip.

Iowa Wesleyan didn't expect that many people, or at least the ones running the concession stand.  Closed 5 minutes into the second half.
I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

Id have to agree with that statement, I dont like seeing us give up that many points. I will be interested to see how UWOK does in the WIAC this year, they seem improved. We did give up 20 to a WIAC team last year and ended up doing ok in the IIAC tho :)

Coes got a bigger date on the horizon than homecoming with the Knights! :) Its been a long time since I can remember seeing a team have to win the conference and go 10-0 to have a good shot at getting into the show. Any Coe supports have info as to how the schedule worked out non-conference like this for them? They had played some tough teams in previous years.

When UWO went no huddle, the defense really struggled, when they didn't, we could shut them down.  Most of the no huddle time, the D was doing good just to get set before the snap.  Their offense got to the line really fast and was ready to roll.  It created a lot of problems that lead to success for their offense.

On the flip side, they were not able to do much about shutting down our offense as all.  And our O used great clock management.  By the time they got the ball back at the end, they really couldn't make anything work and there wasn't much time to work with.  They should have used their TO while we had the ball.  It showed us some things we can work on, but it doesn't worry me.
