AZ Dutchman, got to see a bit of your son playing last night.  Didn't get to the game until the second quarter, then it got called at half because of lightning, so it wasn't for long, but he was doing his thing.

My how the (high and) mighty have fallen. "Got votes" is top story in Wartburg athletics. Meanwhile, Coe strengthens its grip on 12th. Can't wait for Homecoming in Cedar Rapids.

That's funny I can't wait either!!  8-)

Coes got a bigger date on the horizon than homecoming with the Knights! :) Its been a long time since I can remember seeing a team have to win the conference and go 10-0 to have a good shot at getting into the show. Any Coe supports have info as to how the schedule worked out non-conference like this for them? They had played some tough teams in previous years.

Schedules are normally done 1.5-2 years ahead of time.  From what I'm told, Raeburn didn't have anyone scheduled when Staker took over, so he was left with really  no one to play against.

Cancellation due to lightning..... Ironic that's what I spoke of in a recent post.
I was thinking that was what was getting him going. Either he was moving quick not to get zapped or he got zapped and it jolted him with some extra speed.
They should have kept on playing! :o ::)

I am sure a WIAC team would have gladly not played a D-II or NAIA school.

Maybe the Coe AD was lurking on here 2 years ago and believed what we were writing at the time...That Coe was in for lean years under Staker, so he decided to schedule some sure wins :P

Or...Coe is exploring a move to the NAIA...they miss playing William Penn :D

Interesting, no-huddle is tough to D against, especially early in the season! Doesn't surprise me that they had some success, I would have a hard time believing it was conditioning at all. I wonder if UWO had run no huddle before, or if this was something the Dutch were unprepared for.

I didn't get to see Central in action Saturday.  What I gather from the stats, most significantly, the score, is that Central needs to tighten up the defense.  I also see they were penalized 6 times.  Augustana should be another good test and it would be a bad idea to get flagged 6 times on their field.
When UWO went no huddle, the defense really struggled, when they didn't, we could shut them down.  Most of the no huddle time, the D was doing good just to get set before the snap.  Their offense got to the line really fast and was ready to roll.  It created a lot of problems that lead to success for their offense.

On the flip side, they were not able to do much about shutting down our offense as all.  And our O used great clock management.  By the time they got the ball back at the end, they really couldn't make anything work and there wasn't much time to work with.  They should have used their TO while we had the ball.  It showed us some things we can work on, but it doesn't worry me.

They ran the no huddle last year DutchHawk --  if they exchanged film, Central should have been aware of it.

Fair enough, they should have been more prepared then.

Prepared or not / film or no film, the no huddle (if executed properly) is very hard to defend against.

To Add:
I doubt if during the game the coaches were looking at each other wondering if the no huddle that they were running was something new.
"Hey, did you look at the film on this team?"
"No, I thought you did?"
"No, I didn't. Did you Bob?"
"No, not me?"

unless a team is scouted out in person, it is tough to tell from tape if a team is no huddle. Camera guy generally turns off the camera between plays
You come to Wartburg to play for championships
