Just got home from the UD-Platteville game an hour ago and will catergorize this game one way: Missed opportunities. I am unhappy with the loss as I am sure every coach, player and fan are but I know there isn't a single person that doesn't believe we should  have won that game. Having said that, I think it is going to make the Spartans hungrier.

Hats off to platteville for fighting back (although I wish someone would post the deflected TD reception on youtube because there is no way his feet were in bounds  >:( ) Regardless, we had other opportunities and didn't capitalize.

One thing is for sure, in my opinion, this is a better overall team then last year.

Go Spartans!!!

How about a picture? As John Madden always says, one knee equals two feet. http://www.uwplatt.edu/athletics/football/2010/dubuque2/pages/091110199.html
Looks like a good catch to me.  Probably better than video.
... and then we got a view from our student TV station, and find the video is even more conclusive. (Watch the second shot, which is in slow motion.) http://www.uwplatt.edu/athletics/football/2010/Blazercatch3.wmv

Yeah, it's clear from both his knee was down. I couldn't see that from where we were sitting. It just looked clear from my vantage point his feet were not in. Regardless, thanks for posting it and rubbing in the loss even more  ;D

I prefer know to not dwell on the past and focus on the future! And that means on to the Dutch.

Since I finally got to see a Central game, I feel obliged to share a couple of observations.  The first thing that comes to mind is, the Auggie receivers seemed to do a pretty good job of getting open and making catches.  Makes me nervous to see what an All American will do this week.  The other thing is, Central went for a couple of fourth downs and didn't get them in the first half.  Central was moving pretty well and the offensive line is supposed to be one of the big team strengths so I guess whoever figures the odds decided they were better for picking up 1 or 2 yards than kicking a 43 yard field goal with the wind or an 18 yarder against it.  At the time, they looked like pretty good calls.  With my perfect hind sight, I now say, "Always take the points."

I know no details of the MUC -UWOK game, but it was similar-ish scores. 35-28 and MUC won 45-28, considerable ore offensive output, which I expect from MUC, but giving up 28 to the 6th place WIAC team, I didnpt think Id see that.

DH,the 28 points scored by Oshkosh was the most points UMU has given up in the last 123 regular season games! I don't think I need to mention, that's nearly 12 1/2 years!

Thats impressive, no doubt.

Where do you see Oshkosh b gosh ending up in the WIAC this year after their first 2 games where they played more competitively than a lot of people would have suspected?

Dutch, 5th or 6th place - Stout, Eau Claire, Stevens Point & UWW are ahead of them until they win a game or two - they can't continue to give up 40 points a game and expect to get any W's. They will never score enough on offense to counter their defensive shortcomings and their propensity for committing turnovers...they have a few dynamic playmakers, but a few key injuries could be & usually is, disastrous for them.

I'm a little on edge here with the Dutch, 1 takeaway and 6 turnovers so far!!!! :(    too many penalties and played at least 4 TB's Sat at Auggie.  All that talent coming back and on the verge of wasting it to sloppy play.

They have played by far the best non-con schedule in the league and are only 1 of 3 teams are 2-0, so thats a plus.  Snead has the ability to carry them but they can't be relying on that.  I think we'll see a barnburner at Pella Sat. with the Dutch winning of course, no overtimes though, don't think DD could take it.

Speaking of Non-con schedule:  Grinnell over Monmouth???  I know they lost an All American but didn't they see that potential and get some kid a few snaps last year just in case?  I will have to agree that perhaps Grinnell is movin' up, but its a big jump to see them beat a playoff calibre team with or without their QB.  Congrats Grinnell.

Anyone read Jeff Johnson's article in the Gazette about Coe's game in the Sunday sports section.  Here's a little tidbit.

"Coe played without two injured offensive lineman and All-American defensive end Frank Weymiller."

Now they are printing excuses for the way Coe played in the paper. That is just outrageous.

I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

I haven't seen the entire article so I don't know the context of that sentence you mention. It's just stating a fact. I wouldn't necessarily call that an excuse for how a team played. Again, not having read the sentence in context makes it a difficult judgement. However, not sure I would even consider it to be outrageous in any event. Rather normal reporting for a hometown audience.

I looked, but the Gazette didn't feel it was important enough to put online.

Found it on this site.  Guessing its part of the Gazette somehow.

It's edgy but at least it is exciting.  Imagine how dull it must be to be Whitewater fan and all you have to look forward to is the next blow out.

Judging by the crowd reaction it doesn't appear to be too dull.  Of course nothing is more exciting than watching your team turn the ball over time after time after time.  I mean you just can't beat that kind of excitement.  ;)

I hate seeing the video of P-ville's game winner against UD on the front page of
D3 Football.

Pat ... somewhere in this season I hope there will be an opportunity for a "fair and balanced" shot ... story ... or something ... for the Spartan nation.
