Maybe Coe should have to host their home games at Kingston Stadium?  Field turf, and good seating..   ;D

Somewhat sorta along those lines.  All the CR high schools play at Kingston.  Are there any CR high schools nearby Coe?  Could Coe and a nearby high school split the costs to build themselves a fairly nice football facility?  One with elevated visitor seating so Dutchie and all future cheerleaders won't have to worry about dirty old men in lawn chairs along the sideline looking up their cheerleading uniforms :P

I'm just glad Dutchie's taking it out on Coe instead of Wartburg. ;)
November and the end of football for most teams will come soon enough.  Your turn will come, but after all these months of waiting, don't hurry things too much.

I don't know if Coe is going to have a big home field advantage.  I'll bet Central brings more fans. ???

coocoo, are you showing up for this one?

I have to find out from Shrek if we play Iowa Falls Saturday or Sunday. Plus Shane's bachelor party Friday night, with a stop at Dancer's Ranch.  I'll be honest, it's not looking good.
I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

Another Thursday high school game this week, but I have a dilemma....Do I bring Mom?

For those who don't recall, my Moms losing streak started in 2005. It was the one and only loss that we had in a great season. Since then any game that she has gone to, watched on TV or viewed that was streamlined on the internet has resulted in a loss.
Now I can look at this in many different ways....
The losing streak has to end at sooner or later? Is this the game? My brother is going to be joining us and he's on a viewing winning streak. Will the luck of my brother combat the losing streak of my mother? I don't want to mess up the luck my brother brings. It is going to be televised. So do I bring my mom and have my brother watch it on TV. This way he could shut it off if my mom's powers begin to overcome. Or even vice-versa. Mom –TV/brother-at the game?
Keep in mind Central Dutch sports fans; sooner or later she's going to want to see her grandson there in Iowa? So if anyone has any special luck items (excluding underwear or socks), you may want to send them this way before that happens. I can only come up with so many excuses for her not to click on the mouse and to make the connection through the streamline.   ::)

AZDutchman, you sound a lot like me.  Dubuque once made a huge 2nd half comeback to beat Simpson after I went outside to mow the lawn.  I then made it a habit to mow my lawn right before a UD game would start...I didn't mow last weekend and UD, Iowa, ISU, and UNI all lost ;)

You do need to let mom eventually see a game.  You know, that whole "she raised you and loves you and your family thing"...maybe just try to wait until you are playing a winless team ;D

Klompen

Let your mom go to the high school games and she can watch any JV games that are video streamed.   ;D

I'm with Doolittle, wait until we are playing a low tier team to let her watch Central, that would be her best shot of seeing her grandson playing anyway.  BUT, if she was watching when winless Cornell took Central to OT on the last game of the year, keep her away permanently.   ;) ;) ;)  Or let us know when she is going to watch and we will wear every superstitious item in the book.   :D

The inaugural PAC-MAC Challenge, slating western Pennsylvania teams agains eastern Pennsylvania teams in non-conference play, seemed to be a hit.

How about a CCIW-IIAC Challenge?  (We could match numbers by exempting Buena Vista on the basis of travel distance, just as the PAC exempted Thomas More.)  We could settle this conference ranking thing on the field.

I dont know about that, from what I hear, there will be quite a few Coe fans down for this one

As for Coe partnering with a local school for a stadium, CR Wash would be the nearest one. I doubt that would happen though, being a private college and public high school, as well as CR needing to spend money somewhere else, don't think there would be much public support to build. Especially considering the nice renovations to Kingston. There have been a few games at Coe since the field turf went in, but those have mainly been from smaller surrounding schools like Anamosa. The real problem with updating the field with visitor stands is how much of the "practice" field it would consume. There isn't a whole lot of room to throw permanent seating on the visitor side. Coe is in the latter stages of buying housing in the neighborhoods around Coe, which will open the school up for some much needed expansion. Possibly placing football/soccer practice fields somewhere away from the game fields, allowing for permanent visitor bleachers where the practice field currently is. They could then turn the practice fields, allowing for smaller/shorter Thursday/Friday practices.

Man, its been a long time since my last post, like a year... since I forgot to submit pick ems for the first 3 weeks, can i just start with a pefect record? I probably would be near that anways, I'll even take one loss.

Great thing about having a fieldturf game field is that you can practice on that...so why throw up some visiting stands.

Nvm...forgot Coe committed the ultimate sin....putting ugly yellow soccer stripes on a perfectly good football field!  >:(

Take the last say 5 years, average the teams placing in the conference...and match em up, 1 v 1, 2 v 2 and so on. It wouldnt have a huge impact on playoffs because CCIW is a North region and we are West. Im all for it!

As you mentioned, with the soccer lines come soccer games, can't practice when there is a game being played. It's also nice to have a grass field to practice on when you have to play on a grass field that week.
