I don't know if Coe is going to have a big home field advantage. I'll bet Central brings more fans. ???

coocoo, are you showing up for this one?

I have to find out from Shrek if we play Iowa Falls Saturday or Sunday. Plus Shane's bachelor party Friday night, with a stop at Dancer's Ranch.  I'll be honest, it's not looking good.

I dont know about that, from what I hear, there will be quite a few Coe fans down for this one

As for Coe partnering with a local school for a stadium, CR Wash would be the nearest one. I doubt that would happen though, being a private college and public high school, as well as CR needing to spend money somewhere else, don't think there would be much public support to build. Especially considering the nice renovations to Kingston. There have been a few games at Coe since the field turf went in, but those have mainly been from smaller surrounding schools like Anamosa. The real problem with updating the field with visitor stands is how much of the "practice" field it would consume. There isn't a whole lot of room to throw permanent seating on the visitor side. Coe is in the latter stages of buying housing in the neighborhoods around Coe, which will open the school up for some much needed expansion. Possibly placing football/soccer practice fields somewhere away from the game fields, allowing for permanent visitor bleachers where the practice field currently is. They could then turn the practice fields, allowing for smaller/shorter Thursday/Friday practices.

Man, its been a long time since my last post, like a year... since I forgot to submit pick ems for the first 3 weeks, can i just start with a pefect record? I probably would be near that anways, I'll even take one loss.

Great thing about having a fieldturf game field is that you can practice on that...so why throw up some visiting stands.

Nvm...forgot Coe committed the ultimate sin....putting ugly yellow soccer stripes on a perfectly good football field!  >:(

As you mentioned, with the soccer lines come soccer games, can't practice when there is a game being played. It's also nice to have a grass field to practice on when you have to play on a grass field that week.

Central has probably one of the best football pracitce facilities in the conference. Fieldturf game field with lights, two regulation size grass practice fields, and a 3rd practice field that is probably 80yds square. Those grass fields are immaculately kept as well, I talked with a former QB at Coe who worked a camp at Central a few years back, he said the pracitice fields there were in much better shape than Coes game field.

For what it's worth, there is some precedent for Saturday's matchup of top 10 Iowa Conference teams. In 1998, Coe's first year as a member of the conference, the Kohawks were ranked 9th in the USA Football Division III poll after knocking off #1 Simpson. #3 Central prevailed 39-14 and Coe lost 4 of its next 5 games to finish 5-5. That game was also held at Clark Field, and there was no chat board whining about the seating.  ;D

Yikes. USA Football poll. Below Don Hansen in the pecking order.

Just a quick question to satisfy my curiosity.  I know Central is the good and it looks like Wartburg is the bad but who are the ugly?

Not officially. ;)

That would be Coe, the ugly stepsister being a late comer to the conference via the MWC, why they so ugly they mama got to tie a pork chop around their neck to get the dog to play wit 'em.

Simpson, without a doubt.   :D   But really, after "I know Central is the good" does the rest really matter?   :D

Coe has highlights up from the Luther game.

There was nothing that really stood out in that video. The funny part was around 7:05 into it when the video guy says, "SHAKIN'... BAKIN'". That cracked me up.

I noticed that too.

Coe has a very good rhythm passing game. Boyle gets the ball out on time and on target. I don't think the Luther DB's gave them much of a test though.

Coe looked solid, lots of dink n dump passes picking up the yardage. Wasn't exactly impressed with Luther, but Ill reserve judgement until Saturday evening.
