Coe has highlights up from the Luther game.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RAY_CWx-0AU

There was nothing that really stood out in that video. The funny part was around 7:05 into it when the video guy says, "SHAKIN'... BAKIN'". That cracked me up.
I think Central can handle shakin and bakin.  It is when the Dutch secondary lets receivers get behind them that I start to smell things burning.

I did not see many routes run with the intention of getting behind the receivers.

Coe looked solid, lots of dink n dump passes picking up the yardage. Wasn't exactly impressed with Luther, but Ill reserve judgement until Saturday evening.

Well duhh ... CoeAthletics produced it.

OK - it's plain to see that Coe was the better team on Saturday .. and yes the video makes the Norse secondary look rather porous.  Right now, Central, Coe and Wartburg are the premiere teams in the IIAC.  With every game, however, I see improvement and lessons being learned from the power programs.

What I'd like to see from Luther in the 2010 season is to avoid back-to-back losses.  That's something that hasn't been done at Luther for many years and is a chapter out of Wartburg's book of success (if you can't beat 'em – join 'em).  As the Norse football program continues it's steady climb up the IIAC ladder, I'm sure other chapters out of Wartburg's playbook will be referenced including:

  • To shake hands (or not) - 101 ways to annoy opposing coaches
  • Reroof your way to a better backfield
  • Recruiting tips and tricks - How to sway youth over to the dark side
  • Making friends in financial aid
  • History of Slytherin - The orange phase
  • Leveraging debt - An up to the eyeballs view
  • How to land a D2 job
  • Extreme Makeover - Transforming the red-headed stepchild into a winner

Sincerely yours,

Not that the weathermen/women ever get it right, but early in the week I was hearing 75 and sunny, last I heard it was a prediction of 68 and rain for Saturday afternoon.  So will it be a good day to be a running team or a passing team?  Sounds like another day of going prepared for almost anything.  What's new?  Given the year, it will likely be rain.   :'(  But maybe that will be more pro-Central.   ???

Anyone find it unusual that we haven't heard from WillieU for a week?
NKD: "We need a f**king touchdown, excuse my French"
FBD: "I didn't know touchdown was French."

There was a time that Wartburg was both the Bad and the Ugly.

Then sportsknight graduated and Wartburg was simply the Bad.

Willie is on vacation.  Might get back to Dubuque in time for the 4th quarter, Saturday night against the Rams.

What is it supposed to be like Saturday night at 7pm...in Dubuque...That is what I need to know ;)

I am just going to keep this weather info from my wife.  We will be in Iowa City on Saturday for the Hawkeye game.  If she knows it is supposed to rain I suspect she might start coming up with excuses to miss the game.  She likes going with me to football games, but I suspect her enthusiasm might wain if it is cool and rainy outside.  She already told me we can't do a Hawkeye/UD double header this weekend.  Something about being too tired the next day for church and sunday school ;)

AZDutchman, you sound a lot like me.  Dubuque once made a huge 2nd half comeback to beat Simpson after I went outside to mow the lawn.  I then made it a habit to mow my lawn right before a UD game would start...I didn't mow last weekend and UD, Iowa, ISU, and UNI all lost ;)

You do need to let mom eventually see a game.  You know, that whole "she raised you and loves you and your family thing"...maybe just try to wait until you are playing a winless team ;D

Well, Mom watched the game last night. We lost 43-29. I am now accepting any good luck socks and underwear.
On a serious note, my son received the Cox scholar athlete award last night. I'm pretty sure Cox communication is in Iowa.
I'm looking forward to a great game Saturday!
