20=10 UD I can get it with no problem, Doolittle.

Well, I am glad UD is winning...ticked off I can't get it to work at my computer >:(

Thanks for the update Klompen!!!
No problem.  Only 6 seconds left, don't bother trying anymore.  Good luck to you next week against Coe.  Maybe UD can step up and Coe can have a let down after partying all week.  Then I wouldn't have to cheer for WB.   :D

Don't know what provoked him but some dude living across from the stadium decided he needed to assault a Central fan with a garden tool.  Needless to say, neither of them got to stay and watch the game.  One was at the hospital and the other was getting fingerprinted. :o

"The Kohawks rolled up 533 yards total offense, just four shy of the most ever surrendered by a Central defense."

Wow! That's saying something. Fantastic game marred by the knucklehead neighbor who apparently thought he owned the street in front of his house. My prayers are with the injured Central fan.

As for the playing conditions, I couldn't help but marvel what a difference FieldTurf makes. I believe it was a Coe-Central mud bowl four years ago that finally convinced Coe to install turf. This year, it may well be the Central game that prompts the installation of permanent visitor seating.

Keep coming back, Dutch, and we'll keep making improvements.

Thanks for the info, Tydebol Man.  Pretty sad when things have to get that out of hand.  Not saying if it was or was not provoked since I didn't even know what happened, but glad to hear that the guy was arrested, hope the Central fan is okay.

We will keep coming back, so get that permanent visitor seating and safe passage to the game from the limited parking area.  Enjoy tonight, Charlie, you and the Coe team and fans deserve it.  As Coach Mac says, it was pretty simple, you stopped us and we couldn't stop you.  Congratulations.

Willie University

Returned home from a week long excursion with family, fed the son, unpacked the car, and raced up to catch the 2nd half of the game. The final was 28-10 Spartans win.

My take on what I heard (most of 1st half) and saw (most of 2nd half).

I would categorize this win 2 ways: Spartans O-line and run game dominant (254 yards rushing) and defense (cornell no run game except QB's) Held to approximately 270 yards of offense to UD's 420 approx (haven't looked at box score yet). Of which cornell got a nice chunk of those yards on the final possession in prevent.

Cornell's first score came off a UD fumble on 2nd play but defense held inside 10 and they only came away with FG. Spartans miss 2 FG's (30-35 yard)and go for a fake field goal that was stopped on the 6 inch line. Score could have easily been 37-10 or 41-10. However, happy for a victory none the less.

The rams played with enthusiasm and have some good talent at QB and WR specifically. As someone put it, I will say they are a scrappy team even as they showed the 1st half against wartburg last week. But, the spartans just have more playmakers. I was very impressed with the coaches decision to sustain long drives and keep pounding the rock especially in the 2nd half.

On to Coe

Airborne Dutch

Had a conversation with my dad about the Dutch today and I came to a troubling conclusion. Central's defensive philosophy needs to change. How many teams in the IIAC run a wide open spread offense? I haven't been to a game in a few years but I remember Simpson, Coe, Dubuque, and Cornell run wide open offenses. I know that the Dutch have the athletes to hang with anyone but I fear that high octane offenses are simply going to present a problem with the 4-3 D that they run. I was never crazy about the Stack 33 but it had decent elements. As a disclaimer, I am not a coach or a coordinator but I just think that in this league, having another speedier player as opposed to a big body would increase the chances that we wouldn't see another near record setting day like we did today. Of course, I could be completely wrong and Coe was just firing on all cylinders......

I believe your thinking of the 10-7 Wartburg Mud Bowl.

footballdaddy

Congrats to Coe for an impressive win. I believe I was the first to go on record picking them. Enjoy a well-earned victory.

The high points from Waverly:
An outstanding rendition of the National Anthem by the Texas Tenors.
A decent sized crowd considering the weather.
A Knight offense that couples flashes of brilliance with moments of mind-numbing errors.

Still can't say what kind of team we have. We still havent played a whole game to our potential yet. Maybe we can get things tightend up over the bye week.
NKD: "We need a f**king touchdown, excuse my French"
FBD: "I didn't know touchdown was French."

Next day analysis...

The sun does still come up the next day.   :)

Unlike "Dallas" I didn't wake up to find it was all a dream, or nightmare.   :D

Coe was still the better team yesterday no matter how much I wanted it to be different.

Take care of business Dutch.  Your unfinished dream depends on it.

Wartburg Fan

whats up with this Love fest. Where all the trash talk.   ;D ;D ;D.

I pray that the central fan that got hurt is ok.   After a career in Law Enforcement I've stopped trying to figure out why people do stupid things.

Voice of the Dutch

The word in the press box is that the guy wanted to sit in his living room and watch the game, but the victim's car blocked his view, and then the altercation and beat down ensued.

Central seemed to have a not so fresh feeling on defense today.
Great win Kohawks!

I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!
