Heys, why didn't you tell us it was your birthday? You must be important for so many people to have the day off. If I could find my wallet I would get you something.

Happy Birthday Heys!
I'm glad I was able to make you laugh on your birthday. Now I'm not sure if it was the joke or early celebrations on your behalf!  8-)

Just finished the IIAC Season with NCAA 11 on PS3...it's wild...Cornell won the IIAC.    :D

I know that stores are really strict about returning games when the shipping plastic has been removed, but I'm sure if you share with them that Cornell won the IIAC when playing the game that they'll surely know that the game is broke.  :o :o

Huge guffaw of laughter!

Happy BDay. Hope Mrs Heys and  3 are good to you tonight.    Treat you to some of that carne asada.

The Rose Bowl rule is only used for the AQ.  It has no weight for Pool C bids.  My understanding and Pat can and will probably correct me if I am wrong but it will go with strength of schedule for the Pool C bids.  Since Coe played two teams that are not in the region let alone D3 they will have no weight what so ever in the Kohawks SOS.  Coe will have an SOS of about 500 since there are no ties in the conference and the conference wins and lossess will be 500 since there are as many games won as lost in the IIAC.  Central will hope that Augustana and Oshkosh keep winning and get as many wins as they can so that it brings the Dutch's SOS higher than the Kohawks.  The other option for the Dutch would be for Coe to stub there toes twice and beat the Knights so that there is a tie between the Knights and the Dutch or hope that the Knights lose one to someone else and the Dutch.  Lastly the final option is that the Kohawks go 10-0 and the Dutch beat the Knights.  Coe not scheduling D3 teams could bite them big time, the Kohawks are in the drivers seat right now and hold the keys.

I don't know if this has been talked about before or not but I'd like to know if anyone can actually confirm that they see Luther's McGivney tackle anyone and everyone that seems to touch the ball. He was credited with 12 solo tackles and 13 assists today.
Distant cousin who is an alum and saw the Homecoming game between Cornell and Luther said the only player on the field for Luther was the guy you mentioned....McGivney.  He did move from sideline to sideline like Chicago Bear #54.  Otherwise it was a boring game except for a near Cornell College victory.

I've been having trouble wrapping my head around this one as well.  Granted, I haven't seen him play...or anyone else in the IIAC for that matter.  But he has 2x as many assisted as solo tackles, and is on pace for 216 total tackles this season.  He's also averaging about 4.5 more tackles/game than anyone else in the nation.  He is accounting for somewhere in the area of 40% of his team's tackles.  That seems absurd to me.  I can't decide if there has just been very helpful stat keeping, or if the defense is set up to allow this to happen, or if he is such an athletic presence why teams aren't making an attempt to avoid him.  Any one have any insight?
Terrell Owens was asked for one word to describe himself. He said "confident." When asked for another word he said "very."

What gives?  We've been picking on them with jokes all week, no replies, no "we're going to show them attitude".  Nothing.  I think Simpson is the new Cornell.  Makes me wonder how long Coach G will be around.  Any speculation?

I think Coach Glo will be fine,  mine has moved on so not chasing Storm as closely this year but it appears they are trying to groom the youngsters for the future.  As often happens the entirely new staff took a bit of a recruiting hit especially that first year.  Upper classman representation is pretty thin this year so lots of newbies seeing more time than would normally be expected. My son loved playing for Glo and the passion will return but you have to have the horses (3 year olds and up) in the barn - still running too many yearlings.

You need a lot of factors to come together to put up those type of numbers.

1- The obvious, you need to be on the field a lot. That's why you never see the best player on the best team leading in tackles. Three and outs early and watching the 2nd stringers late doesn't help stats. The Norse are last in TOP this year, same with last year. They never get ahead by enough that he comes off the field. You will find him on kickoff and punt teams. He is on the field for every play there is a tackle.
2- The defensive scheme is friendly to his position. He was the leading tackler in the conference last season by four tackles a game. Alex Meirau was near the top the year before that and Marcus Hendrickson for two years before that.
3-He's a helluva athlete. Missed his Freshman year with injury, started as a safety his Sophmore season and grew into a linebacker. He can run with recievers and bring down backs in the open field but is plenty big enough to to make plays at the line of scrimmage. He is a good sure tackler in an age where you don't see many.
4-Helpful stats? I've never cared enough to count, but I'm sure he doesn't get any help in away games. He is averaging 17.5 on the road. I believe he holds the Illinois High School record with a ridiculous number. It's what he does. He tackles people. Set the all time Norse record for tacles last week, in the 2nd quarter of his 5th game, in his third year.
